Indian Air Force had earlier 4 Air Force Selection Boards. Recently, 5th AFSB has been inaugrated in Guwahati, Assam. It is located in VIP Chowk, Borjhar, Guwahati, Assam on the foothills of Shilling Plateau. The main purpose of the AFSB is to evaluate the candidates on the basis of certain criteria. After clearing written exams like AFCAT, NDA, CDS, etc. a candidate has to clear this stage. AFSB Board also provides the stay facility along with modern amenities like Games, ANTE room, TV room etc. as SSB is a 5 day long process. There is a CSD Canteen also.

Why 5 AFSB Guwahati is so Special?
AFSB Guwahati is the recently included in the list of Air Force Selection Boards.
- It is very new building and has a capacity of accommodating 70 students at a time.
- It has been set up in the premises of Air Force Station, Kancharapara, which was established in 1st September 1942.
- AFSB Guwahati is relinquished with modern infrastructure and state of the art facilities.
- Northeast East India is still unexplored in terms of tourism. Therefore, it will provide benefits to the tourism sector. And many will get to explore the areas where most of the citizens are still not familiar with.
