AFCAT, or Air Force Common Admission Test, is a test for people who want to join the Indian Air Force in different positions. Candidates who have completed a three-year or four-year course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks. The candidate should have studied Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level. Students who are in their final year are also eligible to apply, as long as they do not have any backlog at the time of the Testing and produce their Degree certificate issued by the University before the stipulated date in the advertisement.

AFCAT Full Form: Procedure to Get Into IAF
The candidates who prepare for the AFCAT exam must be aware of the procedure through which they can get into the IAF. Given below is the complete procedure to get into IAF:
- AFCAT – Clear the aptitude exam i.e. AFCAT, which is conducted twice a year
- AFSB-SSB Interview involves a two-step procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test which will be held at Selection Centres. All the candidates will face the stage one test on the first day of reporting at the Selection Centres. The candidates who qualify in stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests. Those who fail to pass stage one will be returned on the same date. After five days stay final results are called out during the conference.
- Medicals – Once declared medically fit, it is highly probable that the candidate would go on to the AFA for a 48-week long training before being inducted into the force. However medical failed candidates can ask for a review board depending upon the type of unfitness declared.
AFCAT Exam Pattern
The AFCAT test is online and lasts for two hours. It evaluates candidates for different positions in the Indian Air Force. There are 100 questions, each worth three marks for a correct answer and deducts one mark for a wrong one. Unanswered questions get no points. Final selection depends on scores from the written exam, AFSB test, and medical check-up. Non-technical candidates only need to pass the AFCAT, but technical ones must also clear the EKT.
