NDA (National Defence Acadmey)

NDA is the most common and earliest possible way of becoming an officer in Indian Army.

NDA Exam is conducted twice every year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to select eligible candidates for admission to the elite National Defence Academy and Naval Academy.

Academy

Candidates who wish to apply must be :

12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School

Education or equivalent examination

conducted by a State Education Board or

a University.

For Air Force and Naval Wings of

National Defence Academy and the

10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the

Indian Naval Academy

Candidates must be

12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry,

and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of

School Education or equivalent conducted

by a State Education Board or a University.

NDA Exam Pattern

There will be objective-type questions on:

CDS

Combined Defense Service Examination is organized by UPSC for recruitment in the Indian Army, Air Force and Water Force.

UPSC organizes written examinations and interviews for CDS recruitment after which the successful candidates are sent to the Indian Military Academy (Dehradun), Indian Naval Academy (Goa), Air Force Academy (Hyderabad) and Officer Training Academy (Chennai).

CDS  Examination Pattern

CDS follows a three-stage recruitment process it consists of:

  • SSB Interview
  • Medical Examination
  • Merit List

CDS  Written Exam Pattern

The written examination consists of the below subjects:

A) For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy:

JAG

JAG entry is for the candidates holding A law degree, Here candidates required to give SSB interview for getting inducted.

 JAG Educational Qualification.

JAG Entry Scheme 28th Course Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB Degree (three years professional after graduation or five years after 10+2 examination). The candidates should be eligible for registration as an advocates with the Bar Council of India/State. The candidate should be from a College/University recognized by the Bar Council of India.

JAG Exam Pattern

The selection is done on the basis of

  1. Shortlisting of candidates
  2. SSB Interview
  3. Medical examination
  4. Final merit

NCC Special entry

NCC entry is based on direct SSB interview and the marks obtained in NCC C certificate.

Educational Qualification

For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders:
Graduate with an aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. Those studying in final year are also allowed to apply provided they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the first two/three years of three/four years degree course respectively. Such students will need to secure an overall aggregate of minimum 50% marks if selected in the interview, failing which their candidature will be CANCELLED.

The candidate should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division/Wing of NCC and should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.

For Wards of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel:

Degree of a recognized University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. NCC ‘C’ certificate NOT required for Wards of Battle Casualties

Exam Pattern

  3. Medical Examination

TES

Technical entry scheme is essentially for the male candidates having appeared in JEE Mains Exam , here again no written exam is conducted , the selection is made on the basis of SSB Interview

Educational Qualification

(i) Only those candidates who have passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with a
minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from
recognized education boards are eligible to apply for this entry. Eligibility condition for
calculating PCM percentage of various state /central boards will be based on marks
obtained in Class XII only.
Note : Candidates are required to fill their Rank as per Common Rank List
(CRL) only in the application
