BRO Syllabus 2024, Subject Wise Exam Pattern In Detail

As you are aware, the Border Road Organization (BRO) will soon release a notification for the recruitment of various posts including Radio Operator, MSW, and others. Candidates who have applied for the BRO recruitment should be familiar with the BRO syllabus and exam pattern to prepare effectively for the written exam. It is important to start preparing early as the exam date may be announced soon. In this article, we will provide detailed information about the BRO syllabus.

BRO Exam Pattern 2024

Candidates will be initially selected based on the Provisional Merit List in Written Test only. Candidates will be screened for further recruitment based on written marks for physical and practical trade tests.

  • The question paper will carry 100 marks and it will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi
  • The objective type Questions will be OMR based and subjective questions have to be answered in the answer sheet.
  • The duration of the written test is 1-3 hours.
  • The question paper will be answered in blue/black ballpoint pen only.

BRO Syllabus 2024

BRO Examination will be conducted for various posts. To clear any government examination, one should have complete knowledge of the Syllabus. Here, we are providing the BRO Exam Syllabus for candidates to help in their preparation. Check the Syllabus for written examination for various posts.

(A) Radio Mechanic:

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Questions on electronic circuits
(b) Operation & Maint of wireless eqpts
(c) Operation of switchboard upto 10 lines
(d) Charging & operation of batteries
(e) Principles of radio mechanism
(f) Knowledge of Morse code
(g) General Knowledge

(B) Operator (Communication):

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Inspection of telecommunication equipment
(b) Maint & repair of tele communication equipment
(c) Installation of carrier tele communication equipment
(d) Wireless and line theory
(e) Questions on condensers and valve theory
(f) Propagation of Wireless waves
(g) Transmitter and receiver
(h) Power supply system
(j) Exchange switchboards
(k) Maint of records
(l) English (10th Std)
(m) General Knowledge

(C) Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade):

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Maintenance of heavy/light vehicle
(b) Use of Oils/lubricants
(c) Daily/periodic checking
(d) Tyre rotation
(e) Road signs
(f) Traffic Rules
(g) Use of Tools
(h) General knowledge

(D) Vehicle Mechanic:

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Operations of petrol/diesel engines
(b) Checking of faults
(c) Repair & maintenance of the engine
(d) Repair & Maintenance of fuel system
(e) Repair & Maintenance of brake system
(f) Repair & Maintenance of the clutch system
(g) Repair & Maintenance of chassis
(h) General Knowledge

(E) Multi-Skilled Worker Driller:
(a) Operation & Maint of rock drill
(b) Operation of maint of hydraulic jack eqpts
(c) Knowledge of drill bits
(d) Periodic checking of eqpts
(e) Questions on oils/lubs
(f) Safety precautions
(g) General Knowledge

(F) Multi-Skilled Worker Mason:

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Questions on concrete & concrete mixing
(b) Brick/stone masonry works
(c) Pier & arches
(d) Different type of floors
(e) Pointing
(f) Different type of cement Mortar & its use
(g) Plastering
(h) Use of staging & shuttering
(i) General Knowledge

(G) Multi-Skilled Worker Painter:

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Cutting of Stencils
(b) Letter writing of English and Hindi alphabets & numerals of specific size
(c) Making of drawings
(d) Questions on painting & polishing/varnishing of wood
(e) Knowledge of different types of paints
(f) Preparation & storage of paints & varnishes
(g) General Knowledge

(H) Multi-Skilled Worker Mess Waiter:

Questions will be asked from the following topics –
(a) Handling & identification of different types of crockery
(b) Maint of Room
(c) Food service etiquettes
(d) Beverage service etiquette
(e) General Knowledge

BRO Practical Test/Skill Test

Candidates will undergo the Practical/Trade test wherever applicable and those who qualify in the Trade Test will only be considered for the final merit list based on marks in the written exam. Trade test is conducted at BRO School & Centre or any other centre, a minimum of 40% marks is required to qualify and is applicable for the following posts only:

(A) Operator (Communication):
(a) Identification of eqpts
(b) Use of standard eqpts
(c) Minor troubleshooting
(d) Electrical connection / required wiring
(e) Generator/power back knowledge/ operation

(B) Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade):
(a) Maneuvering of the slope without slipping
(b) Driving of vehicles on a driving track (‘8’)
(c) Reverse parking

(C) Vehicle Mechanic:
(a) Identification of engine parts
(b) Identification of parts of the transmission system
(c) Identification of parts of fuel system
(d) Identification of different Lubricants/oils
(e) Identification of tools, eqpts

(D) Multi-Skilled Worker Driller:
(a) Operation of rock drill
(b) Operation of hydraulic jack
(c) Identification of parts of eqpts

(E) Multi-Skilled Worker Mason :
(a) Brick masonry
(b) Stone Masonry
(c) Mixing mortar as per proportion
(d) Use of Vibrators
(e) Erecting knowledge of shuttering
(f) Curing procedure

(F) Multi Skilled Worker Painter:
(a) Mixing of paints
(b) Preparation of surface for painting
(c) Polishing/vanishing
(d) Identification of brushes as per use
(e) Removal of old paint

(G) Multi-Skilled Worker Mess Waiter:
(a) Beverage serving etiquette
(b) Food serving etiquette
(c) Use of different types of crockery/cutlery
(d) Laying out a dining table for various occasions
(e) Preparation of bed
(f) Identification of food/beverage

BRO Physical Efficiency Test 2024

The physical efficiency test for the BRO is given below:
