Ministry Of Home Affairs (Border Security Force) has released an online application for the Post of Head Constable (Radio Operator & Radio Mechanic). A total of 386 Posts are out for which eligible candidates can directly apply online. In this article, we will discuss BSF RO RM Selection Process in detail. The BSF RO RM selection process is a rigorous and multi-stage process that aims to identify the most qualified and suitable candidates for the positions. The BSF RO RM selection process consists of various stages, including a written examination, a physical standard test, a physical efficiency test, and a medical examination.

BSF HC RO RM Selection Process
BSF RO RM selection process is designed to identify candidates who possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and physical fitness to perform the duties of RO RM in the BSF. Here, we will break down the BSF RO RM selection process for you and tell you about every step in detail. The selection process for BSF RO RM consists of three phases –
a) The First phase – The first stage of the selection process is the written examination, which tests the candidates’ knowledge in various subjects, including General Awareness, Mathematics, Physics, and Radio Communication. The written exam is conducted in both Hindi and English languages and consists of multiple-choice questions.
b) Second Phase –
- PST, PET & Documentation.
Candidates who qualify in the written examination are called for the next stage, which is the Physical Standard Test (PST). In the PST, candidates are tested on various parameters such as height, weight, chest measurement, and vision. Candidates who meet the required standards are then called for the next stage, which is the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). - Dictation Test and Paragraph Reading Test (For HC(RO) candidates only)
c) Third Phase– Final medical examination. The final stage of the selection process is the medical examination, where candidates are examined by a qualified medical practitioner to ensure that they are fit and healthy enough to perform the duties of an RO or RM in the BSF.
Final result will be declared for HC (RO) & HC (RM) individually on the basis of final merit.

In the BSF RO RM written examination MCQ paper, there will be 100 questions of 200 marks, divided into the following four parts:-

BSF Physical Standard Test (PST) Requirements
After clearing the written examination, candidates will be called for Physical Standard Test which will be conducted at locations determined by the Commission in collaboration with the CPOs. Till this stage, Commission will not check your eligibility thoroughly and that’s why it’s the duty of candidates to check their eligibility before taking the PST. Note –

The minimum height for Garhwalies, Kumaonese, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, and candidates from the states of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and the Leh and Ladakh districts of J&K would be 165 cm for men and 155 cm for women. All applicants to ST/Adivasis or Tribals, including Mizos and Nagas, must be 162.5 cm tall, while females must be 154 cm tall.

So far, the minimum criteria for chest measurement have been modified from 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded to 76 cm unexpanded and 81 cm expanded for Adivasis or tribals.
BSF Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Requirements
In order to ensure your selection, you must be competent enough of clearing all the phases of the recruitment processes and the Physical Efficiency Test is one of them. Make sure that you start physical activities sometime before the test and involve this in your routine so that you could perform well on the day of the final examination. BSF Dictation Test (For HC/RO Candidates only)

- Qualifying marks for the Dictation test will be 38% for General/OBC/EWS and 33% for SC/ST candidates.

After the results are announced, Passed Candidates will be asked to produce their original documents which will confirm their eligibility. BSF Medical Standards Requirements
The candidates who have cleared the physical tests will then go through the last stage of medical examination for which the specification is mentioned below. Below are the requirements to clear the final phase of the Medical Test, after which the final merit list will be prepared separately for both RM and RO. On the basis of which the list of final selected candidates will be released. Check the medical Standards requirements below –

Without correction, i.e., without glasses, the minimum distance vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 in both eyes.

A high-level colour vision exam is required.

Candidates must not have knock-knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squint in their eyes, and they must have CP-III BY ISHIHARA.

The candidate must be in good mental and physical health and free of any disability or deformity that would interfere with the efficient execution of tasks.
BSF RO RM Final Result
The final result will be prepared on the basis of merit prepared for HC(RO) & HC(RM) separately and merit will be prepared in the following manner:-
- HC(RO) – Total marks obtained in the OMR Test (200) and Dictation Test (50) out of a Total of 250 marks (200+50 marks respectively).
- HC(RM) – Total Marks obtained in OMR Test out of 200 marks.
