Can a Commerce Student give AFCAT?

Students who had Commerce at 12th level can only join Ground duty Non technical Branches. A Students with commerce in 10+2 can not become a pilot in Indian Air Force through AFCAT.

Maths and Physics at 12th level and Graduation in Commerce 

Students who had Math and Physics at 12th level and in Graduation they opted for any of the commerce field can apply for Flying Branch, Ground Duty Non-Technical Branches through AFCAT Exam.

Age limit

Candidates applying for AFCAT should know the age limit before applying for it. The Minimum age to apply for AFCAT is 20 year old and maximum age limit is 26 years old. for Students applying interested in Flying Branch can apply upto the age of 24 years.

Flying Branch

The Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force (IAF) is responsible for conducting air operations, aerial missions, Pilots, Navigators, Fighter Controller, Flight engineers, Flight Instructors, Test Pilots. You will be dealing with world’s most advanced and 5th generation aircrafts.

Weapon System Branch

The branch would encompass operators in four specialised streams of Surface-to-Surface missiles, Surface-to-Air missiles, Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Weapon System Operators in twin/multi-crew aircraft. The branch will contribute immensely by enhancing the war fighting
capability of the Indian Air Force.

Administration Branch

Administration Branch is open for Short Service Commission of both Men and Women. By joining the administration branch, you will handle the efficient management of both Human and Material Resources. Some of the officers of the Administration Branch are selected and trained to carry out the following duties also:

    • Air Traffic Controller – Involves maintaining an orderly flow of traffic and airspace management.
    • Fighter Controller – Performs the job of directing Fighter Aircraft and Weapon Systems against enemy in various Air Operations while ensuring Air Defence of the nation using Radar Networks.

Logistics Branch

By joining the logistics branch, you will be responsible for materials management of all Air Force resources. You would ensure efficient supervision of inventories, and involve in procurement processes of various ranges of equipment.

Education Branch

Candidates interested in apply for Education Branch should must have a masters degree in any of the discipline with 50% marks. the Education Branch are responsible for the training and education of personnel within the Air Force. These officers typically hold specialized knowledge in various subjects and play a crucial role in shaping the educational and training programs within the Air Force

Are Short Service Officers entitled to Pension?

No, the Short Service Officers are not granted the pension however, they are entitled to terminal gratuity only.
