CRPF Constable Selection Process
The selection process for CRPF constables is rigorous and involves multiple stages, including a written examination, physical efficiency test, physical standard test, Trade Test, Document Verification and medical examination. In this article, we will take a closer look at each of these stages.
1. CRPF Constable Written Examination
The first stage of the selection process is a written examination. The exam is objective in nature and consists of multiple-choice questions. The exam tests the candidates’ knowledge of General Awareness, General Knowledge, Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, and Basic Knowledge of English/Hindi. The duration of the exam is 2 hours, and the maximum marks are 100.
2. CRPF Constable Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The candidates who qualify for the written examination are called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in which the candidate needs to clear the race within the following time limit –

3. CRPF Constable Physical Standard Test (PST)
The candidates who qualify for the PET are called for the Physical Standard Test (PST). The PST involves the measurement of height, weight, and chest (only for male candidates). The minimum height required for male candidates is 170 cm, and for female candidates, it is 157 cm. The minimum chest measurement for male candidates is 80 cm (unexpanded) and 85 cm (expanded).
4. CRPF Constable Trade Test
After clearing PST and PET, Candidates need to clear the trade test which is a test to assess the technical knowledge of the candidate in their respective trade, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrician, etc. During the Trade test, a candidate will be asked to perform
any activity pertaining to that particular trade/post for which the candidate has applied.

5. CRPF Constable Document Verification
Shortlisting of the candidates for this round will be done on the basis of their performance in the prior steps of the selection process which is CBT, PST/PET and Trade test. The candidates are advised to carry original documents along with self-attested photocopies of the same with them at the time of reporting at the Recruitment Centre.
6. CRPF Constable Medical Examination
The candidates who qualify for the PST are called for the medical examination. The medical examination is conducted to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to perform the duties of a constable. The medical examination includes a physical examination, an eye test, and a dental examination.
7. CRPF Constable Final Selection
The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in the written examination, PET, PST, and medical examination. The selected candidates are then called for training, where they are trained in various aspects of policing, including handling of weapons, crowd control, and self-defence techniques.
