Rajnath Singh launches NCC Integrated Software
On July 7, 2023, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launches NCC Integrated Software in New Delhi. This software serves as an interactive platform following an entry-to-exit model, specifically designed for NCC cadets. The main objective of this software is to digitize the entire process, ranging from cadet enrollment to alumni registration. Its purpose is to facilitate the smooth issuance of certificates and establish a comprehensive all-India database of NCC cadets, which can be utilized for employment opportunities.
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the NCC and the State Bank of India. The primary aim of this MoU is to provide zero balance accounts for all NCC cadets, equipping them with essential banking services including debit cards, cheque books, and passbooks. Annually, approximately five lakh cadets are expected to benefit from this collaboration.
The accounts will remain active until the completion of training or when the cadets turn 18 years old, introducing them to the national banking system and enabling them to access other government schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of funds into their accounts.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his belief that the NCC Integrated software and the MoU will greatly enhance nationwide access to NCC-related information. Furthermore, he highlighted that these initiatives will bring substantial benefits to both current and future NCC cadets.
Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Once a Cadet always a cadet,” the NCC Integrated Software aims to digitize the entire process from cadet enrollment to alumni registration. It facilitates seamless certificate issuance and the creation of a nationwide database of NCC cadets, which can be used for employment purposes.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence has reformed the physical uniform distribution process to make it more transparent and seamless under the DBT initiative. Uniform allowance for NCC uniforms will now be directly transferred into the bank accounts of NCC cadets, replacing the existing central procurement and distribution system. This will ensure uniform provision for cadets in even the most remote areas of the country.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the efforts of NCC, BISAG, and SBI officials in digitizing the NCC and implementing the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and DBT. He emphasized that these steps will provide easy access to NCC-related information nationwide and benefit both present and future cadets.
