The second stage, consisting of the typing, shorthand, or trade test, is qualifying in nature.

DGAFMS Group C: Skill/Trade/Typing/Shorthand Test

The post-wise skill and trade tests for DGAFMS Group C vary according to the role. The written test standard aligns with the minimum educational qualifications required for the post. Candidates who qualify in the written exam proceed to a skill-based test specific to their role.

Stenographer Grade-II: candidates must clear a skill test involving dictation at 80 WPM for 10 minutes and transcription within 65 minutes on a typewriter or 50 minutes on a computer for English, and 75 minutes on a typewriter or 65 minutes on a computer for Hindi.
Lower Division Clerk (LDC): the typing speed requirement is 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi on a computer.
Store Keeper candidates must demonstrate a typing speed of 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi.
Tradesman endurance tests require carrying a 40 kg man over 100 meters in 60 seconds and lifting and holding a 40 kg weight in a static position for 30 seconds.

Additionally, candidates applying for roles such as Cook, Barber, Canteen Bearer or MTS must demonstrate proficiency in their respective trades, with detailed trade test criteria to be announced by the board.
