Difference between Airforce X and Airforce Y

Educational Qualification of Airforce X and Y

Air Force Group X requires candidates to have a science background, specifically requiring them to have completed their 10+2 education with a focus on Mathematics, Physics, and English. To be eligible, candidates must score a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in these subjects, as well as at least 50% in English.

For Air Force Group Y, candidates must have completed their 10+2 education in any stream or subject recognized by the Central or State Education Board. To be eligible, candidates must score a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and at least 50% marks in English.

Age of Airforce X and Y

There is no age difference between Airforce X and Y recruitment groups. Both the groups have the same age requirements, the minimum age for candidates is 17 years and the maximum age is 21 years. This uniformity in age criteria applies to both Airforce X and Y equally.

Selection Process of Air force X and Y

The selection process for Air Force X and Y comprises multiple stages, designed to comprehensively evaluate candidates. Initially, candidates have to undergo a written test or a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in Phase I, which assesses their knowledge and aptitude. Next, candidates who clear the written test proceed to Phase II, which includes a physical fitness test to evaluate their physical abilities. After successfully completing the physical assessment, candidates take part in two adaptability tests – Adaptability Test-1 and Adaptability Test-2 – which are designed to assess their ability to adapt to the unique demands of military life. The final stages of the selection process include a thorough medical examination to ensure candidates meet fitness standards and document verification to confirm eligibility and qualifications. The aim of this multi-stage process is to identify the most suitable candidates for service in the Indian Air Force.

Salary of Air force X and Y

During the training period, Air Force Group X personnel receive a monthly salary of Rs 14,600. After completing their training, Group X personnel receive a monthly salary of Rs 33,100, plus additional dearness allowance (DA), as well as additional technical pay and allowances.

In contrast, Air Force Group Y personnel also receive a monthly salary of Rs 14,600 during their training. However, upon completion of their training, there is a considerable difference in their pay structure. Group Y personnel receive a monthly salary of Rs 26,900, including applicable DA, but their pay scale is more limited compared to the higher income of Group X personnel.

Exam Pattern of Air force X and Y

The exam pattern for Air Force Group X and Group Y differs significantly in terms of subject focus. For Air Force Group X, the exam comprises of questions from English, Physics, and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. In contrast, the Air Force Group Y exam comprises of questions mainly from English as well as Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA).
