Girls Are Allowed in NDA 2023
The organisation which conducts the NDA examination is The Union Public Service Commission. UPSC is known for its fair and timely process of recruitment and the same is for the recruitment of male and female candidates to receive training in the National Defence Academy. Recently girls candidates have got entry to appear for the NDA Exam and join the National Defence Academy. The requirements of eligibility are almost the same for female candidates as for male candidates. In this article, you will get to know about the NDA eligibility criteria for girls in detail.
Girls Can Join NDA
Now girls candidates are allowed to sit for the NDA Exam as per the recent verdict of the Honorable Supreme Court in the case of Kush Kalra Vs. UoI & Others. In compliance with the judgement, UPSC has recently released the official notification for the recruitment of Women Candidates into the National Defence Academy. And the first batch of girls in NDA is sitting in the NDA Exam 2021 part 2.
NDA Eligibility for Girls
If you are a female candidate who is willing to join NDA and want to know if you are eligible or not, then just check the list given below. You will get to know about the eligibility for the girl’s candidate in detail –
First, let’s begin with nationality. To apply for NDA, a Girl candidate must be:
1) A citizen of India or
2) A subject of Nepal or
3) A subject of Bhutan
4) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, intending to permanently settle in India or
5) A person originally Indian who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam intending to permanently settle in India
- Provided that a candidate belonging to categories 2, 3, 4 and 5 shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Indian government.
- A certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
Age Limit for Girls Candidates
- For NDA 2, Girls candidates must have been born not earlier than January 2, 2002, and not later than January 1, 2005.
- For NDA 1, Girls candidates should be born not earlier than July 2, 2001, and not later than July 1, 2004.
- The commission will accept the date of birth that is entered in the Class 10 or 12 certificates of the candidate.
Candidates need to submit these certificates after the declaration of the result of the written exam.
Educational Qualification
The educational qualification stipulated for girl candidates for admission to the different academies is given below:
The Army wing of NDA |
Must have passed class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognized board |
The Air Force and Naval wings of NDA and 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at INA |
Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics |
Note:
- Students appearing in Class 12th or equivalent examination are eligible to apply.
- Students studying in Class 11th are not eligible.
Marital Status of Female Candidates
- In NDA, only unmarried male/female candidates are eligible to apply.
Physical Standards for Girls Candidates
Till now, eligibility for males and females remains the same. It changes when it comes to physical criteria which are different for both genders
Physical standards and the number of vacancies for Girl candidates would be announced officially by the Ministry of Defence in due course of time.
Exam Fee for Girls
Female candidates are exempted from paying any fees to apply for this Examination.
