HC Asks CRPF To Relax Age Limit By 3 Years For Recruitment Of Head Constables (Ministerial)

Delhi Hight court has passed an order regarding relaxation of the upper age limit “one time measure” for appearing in examination for recruitment to the post of Head Constable (Ministerial) in CRPF-2022. CRPF HC and ASI Official Notification was released on 27th December 2022 for which the last date to apply is 25th January 2023.

On 20th January 2023, A division bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Neena Bansal Krishna has ordered that there will be age relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for candidates apply for the post of CRPF Head Constable and ASI 2022.

Delhi High Court has directed Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) and Central Government to issue a Corrigendum before 25th January 2023 and also to extend the last day of submitting online applications. The age limit of candidates prescribed therein is from 18 to 25 years as on the closing date of receipt of application i.e. 25.01.2023, meaning thereby, a candidate should not born before 26.01.1998 or after 25.01.2005.

CRPF has issued the notification in 2016 for the recruitment of 686 Head Constable vacancies. And now, after a period of six years on 27th December 2022, an advertisement for filling-up CRPF vacancies was issued. The concern is that the age limit of the candidates prescribed for the said posts is from 18 to 25 years but since no recruitment was conducted arbitrarily for last 5-6 years, the petitioners have become over-aged and have crossed the maximum prescribed age limit, i.e. 25 years and thereby, unable to apply for the CRPF examination.

Relaxing the upper age limit as “One Time Measure” of the candidate shall enable them to appear in the examination for the post of Head Constable (Ministerial) for the year 2022.
