How to Avoid Negative Marking In NDA Exam?

The NDA Exam is conducted by UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission) biannually to recruit cadets into the National Defence Academy to turn them into Officers of the prestigious Indian Armed Forces. The NDA Exam is a gateway for 12th Standard Candidates who are either in 12th or have already passed 12th Standard. Marking Scheme of NDA Exam

In the NDA Examination, Candidates should note that there will be a penalty for wrong answer marked by the candidate.  A total of 120 Questions are asked in the Mathematics for 300 Marks. and in the General Ability Section, a total of 150 Questions are asked for 600 Marks.

How much is the Negative Marking in the NDA Exam?

In the NDA Exam, there is negative marking of 1/3 of the total Marks for each correct answer. There are four alternative for the answer to every question. For each Wrong Answer given by the Candidate, there will be negative Marking of 0.33 or 1/3 of the Marks assigned to that question. Those Marks will be deducted from the overall Positive score of the candidate.

Over Attempt: When a candidate sits in the exam hall and goes through the Examination Paper. They think that exam is easy making them attempt as much as they can, eventually attempting the questions they are unsure of, which leads to negative marking

Candidates can easily avoid Negative Marking in the NDA Exam by following these Steps

Maintain Accuracy: A Candidate should aim to maintain accuracy while answering the questions. Remember that every Marks hold a value in your selection. The More Accuracy the more the Positive Marks and less the Negative Marks.

Avoid Wild Guesses: Aspirants should avoid making Wild guessing and attempt the questions on assumption basis. One Wrong Answer can decide your fate of joining the academy. All your efforts and hardwork may go in vain or may flourish depending on that Questions on which you wild guess.

Revise Your Answers: In an Offline Examination, Candidates should recheck the answers they have marked in the OMR Sheet. Sometimes the Candidates mark the right answer on another questions, making it wrong. By Rechecking the Answers Marked again, will ensure the getting positive marks.

Maintaining Concentration: Many a times it has happened that the candidate read the questions wrong. They miss the key details in the Questions. Especially in the questions asking about the correct/ Incorrect. By maintaining full concentration, candidates should keep their full attention to the Question and solving them

Points to Note while Filling OMR Sheet to Avoid Negative Marking.

  • While filling the OMR Sheet, If the Candidate Marks more than one answer, it will be treated as the wrong answer. Even if one of the two marked answer is correct, Candidate will get negative marking for that question.
  • If a questions is not answered and left blank, there will be no Positive or Negative Marking for that question.
