The UPSC NDA (National Defence Academy) is a highly sought-after path for individuals aspiring to join the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The recruitment process is conducted twice a year, and to become an Indian Army officer through NDA, candidates must meet the following requirements:

How To Join Indian Army After 12th: NDA Entry
The Eligibility Criteria for joining the NDA is given follows:
Nationality
The Unmarried Male and Female Candidates must be:
- A Citizen of India, or
- A Subject of Bhutan, or
- A Subject of Nepal, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and the East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
Age Limit
A candidate must not be below 16½ years and above 19½ years.
Education Qualification
- For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: The candidate must be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University
- For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: The candidate must be12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

How To Join the Indian Army After 12th: Technical Entry Scheme
The eligibility criteria for the Technical Entry Scheme in the Indian Army is given below:
Eligibility Criterion
A candidate must fulfil the eligibility requirements mentioned below before applying.
Nationality
A candidate must be an unmarried male and must either be :
(i) A citizen of India
(ii) A subject of Bhutan
(iii) A subject of Nepal
(iv) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
(v) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Govt of India. Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be shortlisted provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Govt before declaration of result by SSB/joining training.

A candidate must not be below 16½ years and above 19½ years.
Educational Qualification
- Technical Entry Scheme Course – At least 60% marks in Science subjects (Math, Physics and Chemistry) in Class 12th.
- JEE Mains has been made obligatory for TES Course.
