These are the words from the Speech which was given on September 1962 when  Brig Ram Singh the first Commandant along with Shri C Subramaniam, the then Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries  Formally Inaugurated the OTS at Chennai and since then every word of the Speech has been proven true by the Officers Training Academy. In 1985 The school was granted permanent status and On 1 January 1988, the school was renamed as the Officers Training Academy (OTA), on a par with the NDA and IMA.

OTA Chennai Provides a 49 week training program  that trains officers for the Short Service Commission (SSC). Graduates from all branches of army except the Army medical Corps are trained at OTA. every year approximately 750 graduates are transformed into talented skilled and brave officers at the OTA.

At OTA a cadet is subjected to physical, psychological ,and military training in a 49 week Training program, The cadets undergo a full stack development from personality, communication to every facet that is essential for carving out a able leader and a supreme Human being , In this Article we will be discussing ways to join OTA Chennai.

How to Join OTA Chennai: CDS Exam

CDS is conducted twice a year by UPSC to Men and Women can join OTA Chennai for SSC Non-Technical Branch through Combined Defence Services Exam held twice a year.

How to Join OTA Chennai: SSC-Tech

SSC tech entry is conducted for enrollment of Short Service Commission (Tech) Men and Short Service Commission (Tech) Women into officer ranks in armed forces.

Educational Qualification

For SSC (Tech) – 58 Men & SSC (Tech) – 29 Women Entries Candidates who have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course or are in the final year of the Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply.
Candidates studying in the final year of Engg degree course should be able to submit proof of passing Engg Degree Examination along with mark sheets of all semesters/years by 01 Apr 2022 and produce the Engg Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Such candidates will be inducted on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of
the cost of training at Officers Training Academy (OTA) as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.
For Widows Of Defence Personnel Who Died In Harness Candidates having Graduation in any stream (Non-Tech & Non-UPSC applicants) & Applicants having BE/B.Tech in any tech stream (For Tech Applicants) will be eligible for this entry

How to Join OTA Chennai: NCC Special Entry Scheme

Graduate with an aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. Those studying in final year are also allowed to apply provided they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the first two/three years of three/four years degree course respectively. Such students will need to secure an overall aggregate of minimum 50% marks if selected in the interview, failing which their candidature will be CANCELLED.

The candidate should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division/Wing of NCC and should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.

For Wards of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel:

Degree of a recognized University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. NCC ‘C’ certificate NOT required for Wards of Battle Casualties

JAG entry is for the candidates holding A law degree, Here candidates required to give SSB interview for getting inducted.

JAG Entry Scheme 28th Course Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB Degree (three years professional after graduation or five years after 10+2 examination).
