How to prepare for AFCAT 2 2024 Written Examination?

The Indian Air Force will soon release the official notification of AFCAT ( Air Force Common Admission Test) for the recruitment in India’s elite Indian Air Force. The Written examination will be conducted in the month of August 2024. Through this exam, defence aspirants can join as a Flying officer in the Flying branch, Ground duty ( Technical and Non- technical branch) of IAF.

Candidates who wish to clear this examination should begin scheduling their time effectively to increase their chance of success in the examination. It is essential to learn about the syllabus and exam pattern to get more clarity in your preparation.

AFCAT syllabus and Exam Pattern

There are 100 Questions in the AFCAT with +3 marks on each right answer and negative marking of -1. Questions are formed from English, Mathematics, Reasoning & Military Aptitude and General Knowledge sections.

English is the most scoring and important section in this exam as the maximum number of questions asked are from this section. Candidates can easily score more than 75 marks in English out of 90 . For effective preparation, focus on these key steps:

  • Develop Reading habits, you can start by reading your favourite Books or Articles that you find interesting in Newspapers. This will help you to learn Sentence formation.
  • Build your Vocabulary, direct questions from this section are seen in the exam. Synonyms, Antonyms, Idiom and Phrases, One Word Substitution comes under vocabluary.
  • Solve Previous year questions
  • Give English Quizzes daily to boost your preparation 
  • Clear grammatical concepts from any source and revise them religiously. 

How To Score Good In AFCAT Maths?

Maths is one of those sections that a candidate fears the most. But, it is also the most scoring section as there is minimum negative marking because of Accuracy. You can easily score more than 45+ marks out of 60  by focusing on these points:

  • Clearing concepts will build base for better understanding
  • Make notes of formulas, important concepts and questions. 
  • Questions are majorly asked from Clock, Decimals, Percentages, Area and Perimeter, Ratio and Proportion, Boat and Stream, Compound Interest and Simple Interest, Profit, Loss and Discount, Probability, Speed Time and Distance, and Age. 
  • Practice is the only solution, the more questions you will solve, the more confident you will become.

In AFCAT reasoning, both Verbal and Non-Verbal Questions are of equal importance. Candidates can face difficulty if they go unprepared for a particular section.
