Indian Coast Guard Selection Process

The Indian Coast Guard Selection Process 2023 relies on an All India merit order, determined by candidate’s performance in multiple stages, meeting specified medical standards during medical examinations, and considering the available vacancies for the respective post.

The selection process comprises four stages:

  • Stage I – Computer-Based Test
  • Stage II – Assessment & Adaptability Test, Physical Fitness Test, Document Verification, and Initial Medical Examination.
  • Stage III – Document Verification and Final Medical Examination at INS Chilka.
  • Stage IV – Successful candidates will undergo training at INS Chilka.

Indian Coast Guard Selection Process Stage 1

Stage one includes a written examination, there are different sections in the written exam for different posts It is compulsory to pass each section separately. The passing marks differ according to the category of the candidate. The candidate has to take the following tests depending on the post applied:-

Indian Coast Guard Selection Process 2023: Stage 2

The students who clear CBT of stage 1 will be called for stage 2 depending on the vacancies and ratio decided by ICG, stage 2 will take 1 or 2 days and candidates will be tested for physical fitness followed by Document verification and Initial medical examination.

The Physical Fitness Test includes Running 1.6 km, 20 Squat ups and 10 push-ups, all three tasks are to be done in continuation.

Indian Coast Guard Selection Process: Stage 3

After completion of stages 1 and 2, an all-India level merit list will be prepared and the selected candidates will be called for Stage 3. Stage 3  will last for 2 to 3 days and will include the following tasks

  • Document Verification
  • Final medicals at INS Chilka
  • Submission of Original Documents
  • Police Verification

Indian Coast Guard Selection Process: Stage 4

Stage 4 is the final stage of the recruitment process, candidates making it in stage 3 will be provisionally shortlisted for training at INS Chilka given that they submit all their documents for verification.
