Indian Navy has invited applications from Unmarried Male and Female Candidates for enrollment in the Indian Navy as Sailors under the Sports Quota for 2/2024 Batch. Recruited candidates will be hired on the Petty Officer and Chief Petty Officer posts.

Minimum Educational Qualification

The Candidates should have qualified 10+2 standard in any stream or equivalent examination.

Age Limit

The Candidates aged between 17.5  to 25 Years old are eligible to apply for the Indian Navy Sailors entry.

Eligibility Criteria

There are two posts on which Candidate will be appointed as  a Sailor. The Petty Officer and Chief Petty Officer. Let’s discuss the Eligibility Criteria for each post.

  • Winner of any medal in Asian Games
  • Winner of any medal in Commonwealth Games (CWG) or World Cup
  • Represented India twice in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, or World Cup
  • Represented India in Olympics

For Shooting, eligibility is based on being among the top 50 athletes in Olympic events according to the latest national ranking.

For Sailing, eligibility requires being a medalist in ILCA7, ILCA6, 49er, or 49er (FX) classes at International or Senior Nationals level.

Selection Criteria

The Candidate will have to go through proper selection process. The Application form will be submitted online. Here we are discussing the selection process, Medical standards and height standards.

Trials and Selection Process

  • Deserving candidates will be invited to appear for trials at designated Naval Centers.
  • Candidates who qualify the trials will undergo medical examination at INS Hamla, Mumbai.
  • Enrolment offers will be extended only to selected candidates based on the requirement in specific sports disciplines and availability of vacancies.
  • Requests for changing the venue of selection trials will not be entertained.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Medical Standards

Medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors according to the current regulations applicable for entry. Candidates must meet the prescribed medical standards for entry.

Minimum Height Standards

  • Minimum height requirement is 157 cm for males.
  • Minimum height requirement is 152 cm for females.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted through ORDINARY POST only. Applications received via speed post, registered post, or couriers will be rejected.

Short-listing Criteria:

Short-listing of candidates will be based on higher sports achievements.

Call-up Letters:

Eligible shortlisted candidates will receive call-up letters by post. The letter will specify the date, time, and venue for the selection trial.

Documents Required:

All original certificates and mark sheets must be presented during the selection trial.

Medical Examination:

  • Candidates declared Temporary Unfit can seek a specialist review at a specified Military Hospital within 21 days.
  • Candidates declared Permanent Unfit can appeal for a specialist opinion at a Military Hospital within 21 days, with a payment of ₹40/- via Military Receivable Order (MRO).
  • Medical fitness certificates from sources other than the designated Military Hospital specialist opinion will not be considered.
  • No further review or appeal is permitted after this period.

How to Apply?

  • The Application is to be submitted on A4 Size paper. The Candidates are allowed to make only one entry. Candidates forwarding the application form more than one time will be rejected.
  • The type of Entry and Sports Discipline is to be written on the top of Envelope
  • Candidates must submit one additional recent colored passport-size photograph. The photograph should have the candidate’s name and signature on the reverse side and the background of the photograph must be blue.

Attesting Officer’s Details:

The name, office address, and seal of the attesting officer should be clear and legible on the application.
