Total 13 teams have played IPL since its inception in 2008, and only one team has won the competition five times i.e. Mumbai Indians. IPL Winners List: IPL Teams

Chennai super kings beat Kolkata knight riders by 27 runs in IPL 2021. The Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first. Chennai scored 192 in 20 overs while losing 3 wickets. The Kolkata night riders only managed to score 165 runs by losing nine wickets in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians is the most popular IPL team who has won the maximum number of titles i.e. five times. This franchise is owned by none other than India’s biggest conglomerate, Reliance Industries. It has been playing since the inception of IPL i.e. since 2008. Currently, the captain of the team is Rohit Sharma and Mahela Jayawardene was appointed as the Head Coach in 2017.

Chennai Super Kings: IPL Winner 2021

The Chennai Super Kings franchise is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The team is owned by Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd and India Cement. It has won the second most number of titles i.e. 4 times. This team has also got a two-year suspension from IPL due to the involvement of the owners in the IPL 2013 Betting case. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals was founded in the year 2008 and it is owned by GMR Group and the JSW Group. It was originally named as Delhi Daredevils which later changed to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2018. The reason being given was Delhi is the power centre of the country, it is the capital, therefore the name Delhi Capitals. The home ground of Delhi Capitals is Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the most popular IPL teams. It is an iconic Eden Gardens stadium team representing Kolkata in the IPL. This team is owned by popular faces of the Bollywood industry, Actor Shah Rukh Khan, Actress Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta.
KKR won the IPL 2012 by defeating Chennai Super Kings and IPL 2014 by defeating Kings XI Punjab. The official theme of the team is Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re (we will perform, fight, and win!) and the official colours are purple and gold.

Punjab Kings

Kings XI Punjab formed in the year 2008 is a franchise cricket team based in Mohali, Punjab, that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team is jointly owned by Mohit Burman, Ness WadiaPreity Zinta and Karan Paul. Kings XI Punjab changed its name to Punjab Kings in February 2021 ahead of the IPL 2021. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals is the first team to win the IPL title in the year 2008. They won the inaugural edition of the IPL under the captaincy of Shane Warne. It is an IPL cricket team based at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The team also got suspended by the Supreme Court along with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2013 betting scandal.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore is named after the liquor brand Royal Challenge. This franchise cricket team is based at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Karnataka. The team has never won any IPL title but it finished as runners-up in 2009 and 2016. The theme song of the team for the 2008 season was “Jeetenge Hum Shaan Se”. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad is a franchise cricket IPL team based in Telangana, Hyderabad. The team is owned by Kalanithi Maran of the SUN Group and was founded in 2012 after the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers were terminated by the IPL. Currently, the captain of the team is Kane Williamson and the team is coached by Trevor Bayliss.
