Indo-Tibetan Border Police to fill 9000+ Vacancies in 2024

The Ministry of Home Affairs has made major changes to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Act, 1992 and in the replacement of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, General Duty Cadre (Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ Posts), Recruitment Rules, 2012. The New Rule are known as the Ministry of Home Affairs “Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Recruitment Rules for General Duty Cadre (Group ‘B’ Posts), 2024”.

According to the gazette released by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the Indo Tibetan Border Police, the key changes will take place in the following:-

  • Age Limit
  • Education Qualification
  • Medical Fitness
  • Superannuation

ITBP Vacancies 2024

Huge Number of vacancies are going to be filled in the Indo Tibetan Border Police on the post of Inspector and Sub Inspector. It is expected that the 9000+ Vacancies will be filled in ITBP in 2024. A Total of 4085 Vacancies are already announced by the Home Affairs that are to be filled this year in the ITBP.

Inspector (General Duty)

  • Post Name: Inspector (General Duty)

  • Probation Period: Two years
  • Method of Recruitment: Primarily by promotion, otherwise by deputation/absorption; for Ex-servicemen, through deputation or re-employment.

By Promotion:

  • Eligibility: Sub-Inspectors (General Duty) from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force in pay level-6 (Rs. 35400-112400) in the pay matrix.
  • Service Requirement: Five years of regular service in the grade.
  • Training: Completion of prescribed pre-promotional training courses.
  • Consideration: Junior officers who meet service and training criteria are eligible. Senior officers are also considered if their shortfall in service is within specified limits.

By Deputation:

  • Eligibility: Officers from Central Government, State Governments, or Union Territory Administrations.
  • Rank Requirement: Must hold an analogous post on a regular basis in their parent cadre or department.
  • Ineligibility: Officers in direct line for promotion or current deputationists.
  • Duration: Normally up to three years of deputation, including previous periods in similar roles.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 56 years as of the application deadline.

For Ex-Servicemen – Deputation or Re-employment:

  • Eligibility: Armed Forces personnel due to retire or transfer to reserve within a year.
  • Qualification: Must meet specified medical fitness standards (SHAPE-1).
  • Terms: Offered deputation until their release date from the Armed Forces, followed by potential re-employment.

Sub-Inspector (General Duty)

    3. Classification: General Central Service, Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial
    4. Pay Level: Level-6 (Rs. 35400-112400) in the pay matrix

      • Age Limit: Between 20 and 25 years, relaxable for government servants per Central Government guidelines.
      • Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or institute.
      • Desirable Qualification: National Cadet Corps ‘B’ or National Cadet Corps certificate, or outstanding sports/athletic certificates.
      • Physical and Medical Standards: As per Central Government guidelines.
    6. Probation Period: Two years for both promotees and direct recruits; includes mandatory two-week induction training.
    7. Method of Recruitment:
      • 50% by promotion (Assistant Sub-Inspectors from ITBP in Level-5 with six years of service and required training).
      • 33% by direct recruitment through Staff Selection Commission.
      • 17% by selection through Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for ITBP.
    8. By Promotion:
      • Eligibility: Assistant Sub-Inspectors from ITBP in Level-5 with six years of regular service and required training.
      • Consideration: Seniors eligible if their service shortfall is within specified limits compared to juniors.
    9. Limited Departmental Competitive Examination:
      • Conducted as per the Ministry of Home Affairs’ scheme for Sub-Inspector’s Limited Departmental Competitive Examination.
    10. By Deputation:
      • Eligibility: Officers from Central Government, State Governments, or Union Territory Administrations holding analogous posts on a regular basis.
      • Ineligibility: Officers in direct line for promotion or current deputationists.
      • Duration: Normally up to three years, including prior deputation periods.
