Mrs World is the first beauty pageant for married women. The pageant was started in 1984 and was inspired by Mrs America pageant. Initially, the pageant was named Mrs Woman of the World but in 1988, the name was changed to Mrs World. Over the years, Mrs World has seen entrants from over 80 countries with America having the most number of winners. One thing that should be noticed is that no competition was held in 1985, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 2021.

Mrs Sri Lanka Rosy Senanayake won the first Mrs World in 1984 and India has only won the Mrs World title once, in 2001 with Dr Aditi Govitrikar bagging the coveted crown. Dr Govitrikar has now served as a judge for Mrs India Inc 2022-23.

Sargam Koushal, representing India, was crowned the Mrs World 2022 on December 17, 2022, at a gala event in Las Vegas. Mrs Koushal won over contestants from 63 countries to bring the title back to India after 21 years. Koushal was crowned by Mrs Shaylyn Ford of the United States, who was the former winner of the beauty pageant.  Mrs Polynesia became the first runner-up, followed by Mrs Canada as the second runner-up.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the Mrs India pageant said, “The long wait is over, it’s after 21 years we have the CROWN back!” 32 years old Koushal hails from Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from being a model, she is also a content writer and a painter. Sargam has also been an English teacher. She completed her master’s in English literature and her bachelor’s in education. Her father is a former banker, and she gave him credit for inspiring her to achieve heights in life.
