142nd National Defence Academy Passing Out Parade

142nd course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) Passing Out Parade was held in Pune, Maharashtra in the presence of Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari.

The 142nd National Defence Academy (NDA) passed out parade was held at Khadakwasla after completion of the professional training of the cadets at the academy after three years of tough training.

Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari Chief of the Air Staff awarded trophies to the meritorious trainees during the Passing Out parade for their immaculate turnout, precise drill movements, and high standard of the parade and conveyed his best wishes to the passing out Course.

142nd National Defence Academy Passing Out Parade held at Pune

A total of 907 cadets participated in the parade of which 317 cadets were from the passing out course. This included 212 Army cadets, 36 Naval cadets and 69 Air Force cadets including 19 cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries.

Chief of Air Marshal addressed the parade and spoke about the role of ‘new technology’ & ‘evolving doctrines’ in bringing about fundamental changes in the character of warfare.  CAS also visited Juliet Squadron at the prestigious Tri-Services Academy.

He interacted with the Cadets of the Squadron-the ‘Jaguars’-and shared experiences of his training days with them.

The training commenced three years back to train the cadets. During this phase of training, the Trainees have imparted instructions on ushering ‘multi-domain’ capabilities in the Armed Forces. and technical aspects with emphasis on practical training.

The intensive training provides them an exposure to the rigours of life in a conducive training environment that prepares young officers to undertake combat as well as ‘less than war’ functions effectively.

Cadet Quarter Master Sergeant Ravi Kumar of Mike Squadron stood first in the Science stream and was awarded the Commandant’s Silver Medal and Chief of Army Staff rolling Trophy presented by General K Sundarji.

Battalion Cadet Adjutant Shivam Kanhaiya of Kilo Squadron stood first in the Computer Science stream and was awarded Commandant’s Silver Medal and the Admiral’s rolling Trophy presented by Admiral Sureesh Mehta.

Out of 234 passing out cadets, 41 got degrees in Science stream, 106 cadets in Computer Science and 68 cadets in Arts stream. Nineteen cadets from friendly foreign countries were also awarded degrees at the function.

In addition, the BTech stream comprising 106 cadets of Navy and Air Force received three-year course completion certificate as these Naval and Air Force cadets will be conferred with the degree after completion of one-year training at their respective pre-commissioning training academies — Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, respectively.
