NDA Selection Process 2024
The Union Public Service Commission holds the NDA exam twice a year to choose male and female candidates for the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of NDA and the Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The selection process has two stages: a written exam and an SSB Interview. All registered candidates must first take the written exam. Based on their performance, candidates are selected for the SSB Interview, which tests personality and intelligence. Final allocation to the NDA and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of the Indian Naval Academy depends on vacancies, eligibility, medical fitness, and merit-cum-preference.
NDA Selection Process
The NDA exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year to induct cadets into the National defence academy later to get commissioned as Indian Army officers, the selection process involves 3 Steps, which are as follows

- The Mathematics & General Ability Test will be objective type.
- The question papers of Mathematics and Part “B” of the General Ability Test will be set in Hindi as well as English.
NDA Result
After the completion of the examination, the UPSC releases NDA Result according to schedule. This is one of the most important parts of the selection process. The candidates can see their result on the official website of UPSC and the qualified students are sent in the next round.
NDA Cut Off
NDA is one of the most reputed examination organized by the Union Public Service Commission. This is a very toughest exam for the 12th appearing students. The UPSC announces NDA Result along with NDA Cut Off to confirm the student’s qualification for the SSB round.

NDA Selection Process 2024: SSB Interview
Candidates who clear the written test are called for an Interview which is quite tough and here your Personality and Intellect are analyzed, the 5 days long interview decides whether or not you possess the qualities of an Officer. on clearing the Interview you get recommended by the Board.
The SSB Round consists of two stages:
- Stage I comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception * Description Test (PP&DT).
- Stage II Comprises Interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and the Conference.
NDA Selection Process Documentation
After qualifying in stage II of the NDA Selection Process 2024, candidates will proceed to the document verification round. They need to provide certain original documents along with photocopies for verification:
- Original Matriculation pass certificate or equivalent to verify the date of birth.
- Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent to confirm educational qualifications.
- Caste Certificate (if applicable).
- Proof of Identity.
- Proof of Address, etc.
Medical Examination
After passing the SSB interview in the NDA Selection Process 2024, candidates will undergo a medical examination at designated Armed Forces Medical Services Hospitals near Service Selection Boards (SSB). This examination is conducted by Special Medical Boards (SMB).
Candidates who clear the SSB interview will be directed to the hospital for document verification and further examinations. Specialists in various medical fields like Medical, Surgical, Eye, ENT, Dental, and Gynaecology (for female candidates) will conduct examinations.
The Medical Board will assess the candidate’s fitness based on these examinations and declare the results accordingly.
The Final Call
Once the medical exams are over, a final merit list is made of the candidates who are declared medically fit, a candidate who makes it to the final merit list, without any doubt, will be part of the next batch of officers.
NDA Selection Process: Disqualification
Here are important rules for candidates to follow to stay eligible for the NDA Selection Process 2024:
- If you were previously removed from the National Defence Academy (NDA) or Indian Naval Academy (INA) due to behavior issues or lack of officer-like qualities, you won’t be admitted again.
- However, if you left NDA or INA for medical reasons or by your choice, you can still be considered for admission if you meet all the necessary conditions, including medical requirements.
Can Girls Join NDA?
The Supreme Court of India made a significant decision permitting women to enroll in the National Defence Academy. However, the court stated that the admission of women would depend on the final ruling of the petition. Women candidates have the same eligibility criteria as men to join the NDA. However, the medical standards may differ for women. The age limit for women candidates is between 16.5 to 19.5 years. Candidates who have completed or are currently in Class 12 can apply for the exam.
