OTA stands for Officers Training Academy, It is a training institute of the Indian Army that trains the officers who join in Short Service Commission through CDS exam. CDS exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to recruit the candidates in the Indian Armed Forces.
Through CDS, Males are eligible to join Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy. Whereas, Females are eligible for Officers Training Academy only.
When Is The OTA Exam Conducted?
For the Admission in OTA, a candidate have to give the CDS exam. It is conducted twice a year usually in the months of February and September.
Age Limit of OTA
Both unmarried Male and Female candidates aged between 19 to 25 are eligible for OTA entry of CDS.

What Is SSC In OTA?
Officers graduated from OTA are granted Short Service Commission in the Indian Army. In SSC, officers serve in the Indian Army for 10-14 years.
Can a Candidate Apply For Permanent Commission In OTA?
A SSC officer who wishes to join the Permanent Commission can apply for PC in the end years of their service. However, a PC is granted only after evaluating whether you are worthy or not.

Officers are granted the rank of Lieutenant in the Indian Army as soon as they pass out from the Officers Training Academy. Officers are promoted on the basis of Number of years they serve in the Army.
