Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI)

India’s largest and preeminent institute for research, higher education, and training in agricultural sciences is the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI). The Government of India founded the Institute in the north Bihar village of Pusa in 1905. It was moved to New Delhi in 1936. It is also referred to by its widely used acronym IARI. About twenty divisions, five multidisciplinary centers, eight regional stations, two off-season nurseries, three coordinated research projects spanning all of India, and ten national centers operating under coordinated research projects are all part of the institute.

ICAR – National Dairy Research Institute

In 1923 the Imperial Institute for Animal Husbandry and Dairying was founded in Bangalore and later changed its name to the National Dairy Research Institute. It earned its current distinguished status as a national center for advancing dairying using research and education.

It was founded as a dairy training and research center on the grounds of the Military Dairy Farm in Bangalore. Later on the grounds of the Cattle-cum-Dairy farm (old Karnal farm) which was operating at the time under the direct supervision of the Union Ministry of Food and Agriculture the Government of India chose to establish the National Dairy Research Institute and a Dairy Science College at Karnal. The Director of Dairy Research moved his office to Karnal in June of 1955.

Punjab Agricultural University

Founded in 1962 to serve the state of Punjab. Inaugurated by India’s prime minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on July 8, 1963. The university currently consists of six constituent colleges, Eight Research Stations, Three Fruit Research Stations, Four Seed Farms, and Eighteen Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) located throughout the districts.

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University

The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is the state agricultural university of Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. It had its genesis in the establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Madras, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated to Coimbatore. The university offers 13 undergraduate programs, 40 graduate programs, and 27 doctoral programs.

Indian Veterinary Research Institute

The Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory (IBL) established at Pune in 1889, was first led by Dr Alfred Lingard. Over the years, the institute expanded by establishing Regional Stations at Palampur and Kolkata and Campuses at Bengaluru, and Pune. The institute has also established the National Animal Science & Veterinary Educational Museum and a Mini Zoo for educational and recreational purposes. Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Fisheries University

CIFE was instituted in 1961 originally as an in-service training center to impart proficient training and education to fisheries professionals to equip them to face the growing challenges in the fisheries sector. Taking its efforts of almost twenty years into consideration, CIFE came under the administrative control of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research. It was then conferred Deemed University status in 1989 by the University Grants Commission.

G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology

G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, also known as Pantnagar University, is the first agricultural university in India. It was inaugurated by Jawahar Lal Nehru on 17 November 1960 as the “Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University” (UPAU), The university is regarded as the harbinger of the Green Revolution in India. Pantnagar is a non-affiliating university and its academic activities are organized through its nine constituent colleges (faculties), which run large undergraduate (UG) programs.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science & Technology of Kashmir

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) is an agriculture university in the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir. SKUAST-J came into existence on 20 September 1999 following the amendment in the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act 1982 through the State legislature. The university comprises distinct faculties, including the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry, Faculty of Dairy Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, and the School of Biotechnology.

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University popularly known as HAU, is one of Asia’s biggest agricultural universities, located at Hisar in the Indian state of Haryana. It is named after India’s seventh Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh. t is the biggest agricultural university in Asia. The university has 8,645 acres (3,499 ha) of land (around 7,219 acres (2,921 ha) at main campus, 1,426 acres (577 ha) at outstations). It also has four constituent colleges, namely, College of Agriculture, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, College of Basic Sciences & Humanities, and College of Home Science.

University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UAS Bangalore) is located in Bengaluru, India. It was established in 1964 as UAS Bangalore by a legislative act. The British government in India, shaken by several famines in India, set up a commission to improve the state of agriculture to reduce the impact of famines. In 2012, the university was recognized as the best agricultural university in India by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for which it was conferred the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award for excellence in teaching, research, and extension.
