How is IBPS SO AFO Mains Cut Off Calculated?
The IBPS AFO Mains cut-off is determined based on the scores obtained in the Online Main Examination, following the official score calculation procedure prescribed by IBPS.
1. Process for Arriving at Scores
The scores of the Online Main Examination are calculated using the following steps:
(i) Corrected Score Calculation
The number of objective questions answered correctly by a candidate is considered for calculating the Corrected Score, after applying the prescribed penalty for incorrect answers. The exact penalty value is not disclosed by IBPS.
(ii) Final Score Rounding
For all posts other than Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I), the final scores obtained in objective tests are rounded off to two digits after the decimal point.
(Note: Agriculture Field Officer (AFO) falls under this category, as it does not include a descriptive paper.)
2. Application of Cut-Off Marks
As per the official IBPS process:
- The first cut-off is applied on the score obtained in the Professional Knowledge Test of the Mains Examination.
- After applying this cut-off, another cut-off is applied to shortlist the required number of candidates for the Interview stage.
This two-level cut-off application ensures that only candidates meeting both subject-level merit and overall ranking requirements are shortlisted for further selection.
3. Shortlisting for Interview
The final merit for interview shortlisting is based on:
- Performance in the Professional Knowledge section
- Overall score in the Online Main Examination
- Category-wise cut-off criteria as decided by IBPS
The detailed cut-off scores applied to the Online Main Examination are released separately by IBPS along with the result.

Factors Affecting IBPS AFO Cut-Off 2025
If you applied for the IBPS SO AFO Recruitment, you should be aware that the organization’s professionals establish the cut-off marks. IBPS AFO books can help you get higher than these predetermined marks. Using the following variables, one can predict the anticipated cut-off for 2025:
- Number of Applicants: To ensure fairness, the cut-off point may increase if a large number of candidates are taking the exam. However, the cut-off may be lower if fewer individuals show up.
- Positions Open: A lower cut-off could result from more job vacancies, improving the likelihood of selection.
- Category of Candidate: Generally speaking, SC, ST, and PWD candidates have lower cutoff marks than candidates in the general category.
- Exam Difficulty: A difficult exam may result in a lower cut-off. On the other hand, simpler papers could have a higher cut-off.
- High Scores: The total cut-off may go up if a person receives a particularly high score.
- Trends from Previous Years: The current year’s cut-off is determined by taking into account the cut-offs from previous years.
- Category Variation: A candidate’s category may also have an impact on the cut-off scores.
