1. Patient Care

• Implement proper biomedical waste management and segregation post-procedures.

2. Ward Management

• Conduct comprehensive handover and takeover of patient care, ward equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the ward and its equipment.
• Write and maintain the day and night reports for all treatments ordered by doctors.
• Assist the Ward Supervisor or Sister in managing the ward, and take charge in their absence.
• Monitor ward inventories and prepare supplies as needed.
• Supervise junior nursing staff and students, providing guidance and oversight.
• Familiarize yourself with the hospital’s fire exit plans, particularly in wards, to ensure patient safety.

3. Educational Functions

• Teach and guide domestic staff on proper handling of medical supplies, such as bedpans, urinals, sputum cups, and soiled materials.
• Orient new staff and students to hospital protocols and ward operations.
• Participate in staff education programs and conduct health education sessions for patients and their families.
• Demonstrate bedside nursing procedures, disinfection techniques, and waste segregation methods.
• Train nursing students and support staff on bio-medical waste management.

4. Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes, changes in condition, and concerns, for review by the medical team.
• Ensure all ward-related records and reports are properly documented and organized.
