Guidelines for RSSB Skill Test (Hindi/English Shorthand Test)
Candidates can check the detailed Guidelines for RSSB Skill Test shared below: The Hindi/English Shorthand Test (Skill Test) will be conducted online from March 19, 2025, to March 20, 2025.
- The test consists of two parts:
- English Audio Clip (10 minutes, 100 marks) – Candidates will transcribe and evaluate within 60 minutes.
- Hindi Audio Clip (10 minutes, 100 marks) – Candidates will transcribe and evaluate within 70 minutes.
- Candidates must take the exam in the language chosen during the application process.
Mock Test Availability
- A mock test will be available 15 days before the exam on the official website.
- Candidates should familiarize themselves with the software before the test.
General Exam Instructions
- Audio clips will be played only once; no replays will be allowed.
- The dictation speed will be 100 words per minute (WPM).
- Candidates must transcribe the dictation in the selected language only.
- A 5-minute trial test will be given before the main test to help candidates get used to the system.
Typing & Transcription Rules
- Candidates must type using “Calibri” font for English and “DevLys 010” font for Hindi.
- Alt Key is not allowed during the test.
- Each correct word carries 0.1 marks.
- Spelling mistakes, incorrect word substitution, missing words, and incorrect punctuation will result in mark deductions.
- No use of spell check or auto-correct tools is allowed.
- Candidates must carefully proofread before submission, as no corrections will be entertained after submission.
Evaluation Criteria
- Candidates scoring more than 20% errors in the competition exam will be disqualified.
- Relaxation: SC/ST candidates will be given up to 5% relaxation in errors.
Exam Conduct Rules
- Candidates must log in and take a practice test to ensure their keyboard and software are working properly.
- Use of mobile phones, electronic gadgets, or external storage devices is strictly prohibited.
- Any technical issue must be reported immediately to the invigilator.
- Candidates cannot leave the exam hall until the test is completed.
