TNUSRB SI Syllabus And Exam Pattern 2025 for SI Taluk, AR, TSP
The TNUSRB SI 2025 selection involves two stages: a Tamil Language Test and Main Written Exam. Syllabus and pattern details are available at tnusrb.tn.gov.in. Candidates must qualify both stages for Sub-Inspector (Taluk/AR/TSP) selection.
Part I: Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Common for Open Quota and Departmental Quota Candidates)
- The Tamil Language Eligibility Test is a qualifying test in nature.
- It consists of objective-type questions, with each question carrying 1 mark.
- For 20% of Departmental candidates, the test will be conducted along with those applying under the open quota.
- Candidates who apply under both the Open and Departmental categories will only appear for the test once.
TNSURB SI Syllabus for Tamil Eligibility Test
Objective-type questions will assess the basic knowledge of the Tamil language, as taught up to the 10th standard of the Tamil Nadu State Board. The syllabus is divided into three parts:
பகுதி – அ (இலக்கணம்)
- எழுத்து இலக்கணம்: தமிழ் எழுத்துகளின் வகையும் தொகையும், எழுத்துகளின் பிறப்பு, முதலெழுத்துகள் & வகை, சார்பெழுத்துகள் & வகை, புணர்ச்சி, மொழி முதல், இறுதி எழுத்துகள், இன எழுத்துகள், சுட்டு எழுத்துகள், வினா எழுத்துகள், மயங்கொலிகள்.
- சொல் இலக்கணம்: பெயர்ச்சொல் & வகைகள், வினைச்சொல் & வகைகள், இடைச்சொல், உரிச்சொல், இலக்கியவகைச் சொற்கள், வேற்றுமை, ஆகுபெயர், இரட்டைக்கிளவி, அடுக்குத்தொடர், ஓரெழுத்து ஒருமொழி, பகுபதம், பகாப்பதம், மூவகை மொழிகள், வழக்கு.
- பொது இலக்கணம்: வழு, வழா நிலை, வழுவமைதி, தொகைநிலைத் தொடர், தொகாநிலைத் தொடர், வினா, விடை வகைகள், பொருள்கோள் & வகைகள்.
- பொருள் இலக்கணம்: அகப்பொருள், புறப்பொருள். 5. யாப்பு இலக்கணம்: யாப்பின் உறுப்புகள், அலகிடுதல், பா வகை (வெண்பா, ஆசிரியப்பா பொது இலக்கணம்).
- அணி இலக்கணம்: உவமை அணி, உருவக அணி, வஞ்சப்புகழ்ச்சி அணி, வேற்றுமை அணி, பின்வரு நிலையணி & வகைகள், பிறிது மொழிதல் அணி, இரட்டுறமொழிதல் அணி, தற்குறிப்பேற்ற அணி, தீவக அணி, நிரல்நிறை அணி.
- மொழித்திறன்: வல்லினம் மிகும் இடம், மிகா இடம், தொடர் இலக்கணம்.
- பிரித்து எழுதுதல், சேர்த்து எழுதுதல், எதிர்ச்சொல்லை எழுதுதல், பொருந்தாச் சொல்லை கண்டறிதல், பிழை திருத்தம், ஆங்கில சொல்லுக்கு நேரான தமிழ்ச் சொல்லை அறிதல்.
பகுதி – ஆ (இலக்கியம்)
- திருக்குறள், தொல்காப்பியம், கம்பராமாயணம், எட்டுத்தொகை, பத்துப்பாட்டு, ஐம்பெருங்காப்பியங்கள், ஐஞ்சிறுகாப்பியங்கள், அறநூல்கள், பக்தி இலக்கியங்கள், சிற்றிலக்கியங்கள், நாட்டுப்புற இலக்கியங்கள், புதுக்கவிதை, மொழிபெயர்ப்பு நூல்கள் ஆகியவை தொடர்பான செய்திகள், மேற்கோள்கள், சிறப்புப்பெயர்கள், தொடரை நிரப்புதல்.

Part II: Main Written Examination [For Open Quota Candidates]
The TNUSRB SI Main Written Exam for Open Quota candidates carries 70 marks (140 MCQs of ½ mark each) with 2½ hours duration, requiring minimum 25 marks to qualify, covering General Knowledge (40 marks/80 Qs) and Psychology Test (30 marks/60 Qs).

Part II: Main Written Examination (For Departmental Quota Candidates)
The Main Written Examination for Departmental Quota Candidates will consist of 170 objective-type questions for 85 marks, with each question worth ½ mark. The exam lasts 3 hours, and a minimum of 30 marks is required to qualify. It will cover the following sections:
Part – A – (15 Marks – 30 Questions)
- General Knowledge: The Syllabus will be the same as Open Quota Candidates.
Part – B – (70 Marks – 140 Questions)
- Psychology Test: The syllabus for the Psychological Test will be the same as Open Quota Candidates. In addition to the above, the Departmental Quota candidates will have questions on the following police subjects in Part B: Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act, Police Standing Order, and Police Administration.

- The TNUSRB SI written exam is divided into two parts: Part I and Part II. Part I is the Tamil Eligibility Test, and candidates must score at least 40% to qualify for evaluation of Part II (Main Exam). This test is common for both Open Quota and Departmental Quota candidates. In the Main Written Exam, the minimum qualifying marks are 25 for open candidates and 30 for departmental candidates.
