Stage I: English Typing Exam
A ten (10) minute typing test on computers will be conducted to measure candidates’ minimum speed of 40 words per minute in English typing on a computer.
The “characters with space” criterion will be used to calculate typing speed, and the total number of mistakes allowed will be 3% of the total words typed.
Only successful/qualified candidates from level-I, i.e., the English Typing Test, will be invited to the next level of the examination, i.e., Stage-II (English Shorthand Tests)
English Shorthand (Stage II) Tests
The speed is 110 words per minute.
The 550-word passage will be dictated in five minutes. Candidates will be given 45 minutes to transcribe the dictated passage using computers. There will be no additional time allotted for reading the passage.
The total number of errors allowed would be 3% of the entire amount of words dictated, or sixteen and a half (16.5). Six (6) marks will be deducted for each full mistake, and three (3) marks will be deducted for each half (12) mistake. Candidates who make sixteen and a half (16.5) errors will receive one (1) point. Candidates who make more than 16.5 errors will be disqualified.
Each candidate will be given the chance to take two shorthand dictation transcription examinations, with the best of the two being selected. Candidates to the extent of 06 (six) times the number of vacancies advertised in each category (i.e., Gen/EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD) will be called for the next stage of Examination, i.e., Stage-III ((Main – Descriptive Examination)
Stage III: Main (Descriptive) Exam
The main (descriptive) English language examination would include an essay (250 words – 40 marks), letter writing (15 marks), grammar and comprehension passage (25 marks), and translation (from Hindi to English – 10 marks & English to Hindi – 10 marks).
The minimum passing marks for General Category applicants will be 50% (50 Marks out of 100 Marks) and 45% (45 Marks out of 100 Marks) for Reserved Category (including PwD) candidates.
Candidates to the amount of 03 (three) times the number of vacancies advertised in each category (i.e., Gen/EWS/OBCNCL/SC/ST/PwD) from the successful/qualified candidates of Stage-III (Main Descriptive Examination) would be called for the next stage of Examination.
Interview (Stage IV)
The minimum passing mark for General Category candidates will be 10 points, whereas the minimum passing mark for Reserved Category (including PwD) applicants will be 9 points.
