The State Bank of India (SBI) conducts the SBI Clerk exam every year to hire eligible candidates for the Clerical Cadre post. Candidates go through a two-stage-selection process, including Prelims, and Mains exam. Candidates who qualify at each stage will be recruited as Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales) in the State Bank of India at different locations as cashiers, depositors and other roles. SBI Clerk Notification 2024

The SBI Clerk Notification PDF contains the details of the recruitment such as important dates (application dates, fee payment dates, exam dates, and other required information), eligibility, exam date, pattern, syllabus etc. will be released in November 2024. SBI Clerk Vacancy 2024

For 2024, we can expect 8000 vacancies for the SBI Clerk Junior Associate post. The exact details of the vacancy will be released with the notification only. The SBI Clerk Vacancy is distributed amongst various circles and states. Last year the maximum number of vacancies were released for the Uttar Pradesh state which was 1781.

SBI Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates must ensure they fulfill the eligibility criteria to apply for the SBI Clerk Recruitment 2024. Any graduate between 20 and 28 years old is eligible to be the part of SBI Clerk 2024 exam. Candidates can check the details of the Eligibility Criteria below including qualification, age limit and citizenship.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age Limit: 20 years
  • Maximum Age Limit: 28 years
  • Age Relaxation: As per government rules.

Educational Qualification

  • A valid degree from any recognized university is required.
  • Integrated dual degree (IDD) holders need to check their passing date. Final-year students can apply provisionally but must pass before joining.
  • Ex-servicemen with specific certificates after 15 years of service are eligible.
  • Computer literacy is needed for the SBI Clerk exam.

Nationality

  • Indian citizenship is required.
  • Candidates can also be citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees arriving before January 1, 1962, or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) from specific countries.
  • PIOs need a certificate of eligibility from the Indian government.

SBI Clerk Selection Process 2024

The SBI Clerk Selection Process includes two stages- Prelims and Mains. Candidates need to pass each stage to get the final call letter. Check details of the SBI Clerk Selection Process in the table below.

Stage Description
Preliminary Exam The Preliminary Exam consists of 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark. You have 60 minutes to complete the exam. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted. The sections are: English (30 questions, 30 marks, 20 minutes), Quantitative Aptitude (35 questions, 35 marks, 20 minutes), and Reasoning (35 questions, 35 marks, 20 minutes).
Mains Exam The Mains Exam is conducted online and is objective in nature. It carries a total of 200 marks and lasts for 2 hours and 40 minutes. The sections include General English (40 questions, 40 marks, 35 minutes), Quantitative Aptitude (50 questions, 50 marks, 45 minutes), Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude (50 questions, 60 marks, 45 minutes), and General/Financial Awareness (50 questions, 50 marks, 35 minutes).
Final Selection To receive the final call letter, you need to pass all stages of the selection process- Prelims and Mains.

Note: Candidates also need to appear for the Local Language Test round in which their language skills for the state they have applied for are checked. This is a qualifying test.

SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam Pattern 2024

The Question Paper from the SBI Clerk Prelims exam consists of 100 questions of 1 mark each with a time duration of 60 minutes. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern 2024

Main Exam: Online, objective type:

  • This means that the SBI Clerk Mains exam is conducted on a computer, where candidates will answer questions using a computer interface.
  • The questions in the exam are of the objective type, which means that candidates select the correct answer from multiple-choice options.

Total Marks: 200:

  • The maximum achievable score in the SBI Clerk Mains exam is 200 marks. This score is based on how well a candidate performs across all the sections of the exam.

Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes:

  • Candidates have a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete the entire Mains exam.
  • Within this time frame, they need to answer all the questions in the four sections: General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude, and General/Financial Awareness.
  • Each section has a specific time limit, and candidates must manage their time effectively to complete all the questions within the stipulated durations.

SBI Clerk Salary

The new pay scale for SBI Clerk positions ranges from Rs. 17,900 to Rs. 47,920. In cities like Mumbai, the starting salary is around Rs. 29,000 per month, including Dearness Allowance and other allowances. The basic pay starts at Rs. 19,900, which includes two advance increments for graduates. Newly recruited clerks undergo a probation period of 6 months, during which their performance is assessed. If an employee performs below expectations, their probation period may be extended.

The SBI Clerk Exam medium will be bilingual or in the regional language of the concerned state/UT.
