Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC Stenographer exam every year in 2 different stages. The SSC Stenographer Selection Process has Computer-based Test and a Shorthand Skill Test and the details has been mentioned below.

• The candidate must qualify for both stages of examination to receive the appointment letter for the post of Stenographer Grades C and D.
• Candidates qualifying for the CBT test will have to appear for the shorthand test which is qualifying in nature.

• SSC Stenographer Exam will be conducted in 2 different stages to select eligible candidates. The first level is the Grade C and D written exam that consists of MCQs and is conducted online. SSC Stenographer Skill Test 2025

In the SSC Stenographer selection process, the skill test serves as a qualifying round. Candidates who successfully pass the CBT exam are eligible to participate in this stage. The candidates will be dictated a passage of 800 and 1000 wpm for Group D and C respectively, depending upon the marks obtained by the candidate.

• For Stenographer Group ‘D’: 800 words @80 words per minute (w.p.m).
• For Stenographer Group ‘C’: 1000 words @100 words per minute (w.p.m).

The shorthand passage will then have to be transcribed on a computer in 50 minutes for Grade D and 40 minutes for Grade C.

SSC Stenographer Document Verification 2025

The last stage of the SSC Stenographer selection process is document verification. Candidates who meet the cutoff marks in both the Stenographer CBT exam and the skill test qualify for this phase. During document verification, candidates must submit all necessary documents according to the guidelines established by the authorities. The following list outlines the documents that applicants may need for the SSC Stenographer document verification process.

• A valid and original photo identification card
• Certificates for 10th and 12th grades
• Mark sheets for 10th and 12th grades
• Caste and category certificate (if applicable)
• Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (if applicable)
• No Objection Certificate if currently employed in a government organization
• Any additional documents required by the SSC
