Prime Ministers of India: Prime Minister is the most important political institution in the country. The President appoints the leader of the majority party or the coalition of parties that commands a majority in the Lok Sabha, as the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has wide ranging powers. He chairs cabinet meetings. He coordinates the work of different departments. He exercises general supervision of different ministries. All ministers work under his leadership. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India.

Prime Ministers of India: ഒരു പാർലമെന്ററി സംവിധാനത്തിൽ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയാണ് സർക്കാരിന്റെ തലവൻ. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മന്ത്രി സഭയും ദേശീയ തലത്തിൽ ഗവൺമെന്റ് നടത്തുന്നു. ലോക്സഭയിൽ ഭൂരിപക്ഷമുള്ള പാർട്ടിയുടെ നേതാവിനെ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ലോക്സഭയിൽ ഭൂരിപക്ഷമുള്ള പാർട്ടികളുടെ സഖ്യത്തെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായി രാഷ്ട്രപതി നിയമിക്കുന്നു. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്ക് വിപുലമായ അധികാരങ്ങളുണ്ട്. 1947-ൽ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ആദ്യ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പണ്ഡിറ്റ് ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്‌റു നിയമിതനായി. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ശ്രീ നരേന്ദ്ര മോദിയാണ്. അടുത്ത പൊതുതെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് 2024- ൽ നടക്കും.
