The error lies in part (b) of the sentence. Remove ‘Of’ after ‘Despite’ to make the sentence grammatically and contextually correct.

They express a contrast between two things. They are prepositional expressions. Followed by a noun phrase or pronoun or a verb in the ‘ing’ from.

We never use ‘Of’ with ‘Despite’.
