Namo Drone Didi Scheme Context:

  • The Government of India has approved the “Namo Drone Didi” scheme under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). 
  • This scheme aims to provide drones to 14,500 selected Women SHGs during the period from 2024-25 to 2025-2026. 
  • The Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare has released the Operational Guidelines for this scheme.

About:

  • Namo Drone Didi is a Government of India initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower women through drone technology in agriculture. 
  • It is a Central Sector Scheme aimed at empowering Women Self Help Groups (SHGs).
  • It provides drones to 15,000 women Self Help Groups (SHGs) under DAY-NRLM.   
Amrit Parampara Context:

  • The Ministry of Culture has launched a special festival series titled “Amrit Parampara” to celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage and unite the country through art and culture. This series aims to showcase traditional arts and art forms, with a special focus on declining and dying art forms and traditions
  • The series will be held across various monuments and locations in Delhi, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience India’s cultural legacy

  • Amrit Parampara” is designed to promote the continuity of India’s cultural heritage through four key pillars:

Exercise ‘VAJRA PRAHAR’ Context:

  • An Indian Army contingent has departed for the 15th edition of the India-US joint Special Forces Exercise VAJRA PRAHAR
  • The exercise will be held at the Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA from November 2nd to 22nd, 2024. 
  • The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, jointness, and mutual exchange of special operations tactics between the two forces.

  • The exercise focuses on counter-terrorism operations, airborne operations, and special operations in general. 
  • It typically involves a range of activities, including:   
  • Joint Training: Conducting combined training exercises to improve tactical skills and coordination.   
  • Mission Planning: Developing and refining joint mission plans.   
  • Live-Fire Drills: Executing realistic training scenarios involving weapons and explosives.
  • Urban Operations: Practicing counter-terrorism tactics in urban settings.
Exercise ‘ GARUD SHAKTI’ Context:

  • 25 personnel from the Indian Army’s Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) have departed for Indonesia to participate in the 9th edition of the joint military exercise “Garud Shakti.” 
  • The exercise, which will take place from November 1st to 12th, aims to enhance cooperation, interoperability, and understanding between the special forces of both nations. 
  • Activities will include tactical drills, planning, and execution of special operations, as well as jungle warfare training.

  • Exercise Garuda Shakti is a biennial joint military exercise between India and Indonesia
  • It aims to enhance military cooperation, understanding, and interoperability between the special forces of both countries. 
National Youth Awards Context:

  • Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has called upon young Indians to apply for the prestigious National Youth Awards (NYA) 2022-23, recognizing their exceptional contributions to India’s development and social progress.

About:

  • The National Youth Award is a prestigious honor in India, recognizing outstanding work and achievements in the field of youth development and social service.

Mega Steel plant in Keonjhar Context:

  • The Odisha govt has approved the joint venture of JSW Group and South Korean steel giant POSCO to set up a mega steel plant in Keonjhar.
  • It will have a production capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
  • JSW has also signed an MoU for an integrated EV and components manufacturing project in the state at an investment of `40,000 crore.
PM AWAS Yojana Context:

  • The district administration of Mayurbhanj has directed BDOs of all 26 blocks to withhold the salaries of as many as 843 field level officials over negligence in allotting dwelling units to eligible beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

  • PMAY is a flagship housing scheme launched by the Indian government to provide affordable housing to all citizens by 2022
  • The scheme aims to address the housing shortage in both urban and rural areas.   

Key features of PMAY:

  • Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS): Offers interest subsidies to eligible beneficiaries for home loans.

Person in News: Sarojini Sahoo Context:

  • Sarojini Sahoo, a renowned feminist writer from Odisha, was recently awarded with the prestigious Sarala Puraskar for her novel ‘Asthira Pada’

About:

  • This prestigious literary award is given annually by the Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT) for outstanding contributions to Odia literature.
  • She was presented a citation and cash reward of Rs 7 lakh.

Note: The Sarala Puraskar was instituted by eminent Odia industrialist Bansidhar Panda and his wife Ila Panda in 1980.

India’s First All-Women Community Radio ‘Radio Blue’ Set Context:

  • Bhubaneswar has launched India’s first all-women community radio station, Radio Blue
  • This initiative is spearheaded by the Asia Centre for Development Communication & Research (ACDCR).

Key Points:

  • All-Women Operation: Radio Blue will be entirely operated and led by women, empowering female voices and promoting gender equality in media.
  • Community Focus: The station will focus on women’s issues, concerns, and aspirations, broadcasting content created and managed by women themselves.
  • Broad Reach: Radio Blue’s coverage will extend to Bhubaneswar’s urban areas and nearby rural regions, ensuring a wide audience for its empowering messages.
The National School of Drama (NSD)  Context:

  • The National School of Drama (NSD) is set to establish an outreach centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha
  • This centre aims to promote and expand Odia theater
  • Initially, it will operate from the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre.   
  • The centre will offer courses in acting, direction, scriptwriting, and design.

    • The National School of Drama was established in 1959 in Delhi.
    • It is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, since 1975
    • Renowned actor Paresh Rawal is currently its Chairperson, while distinguished Odia actor Chittaranjan Tripathy serves as its Director
