About Tarang Shakti-2024:

    • Phase 1: Southern India, first two weeks of August.

Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme (PM-KISAN) Why in the news?

  • Union Minister of State for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje called for the inclusion of more farmers in the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Yojana scheme.

About PM-KISAN:

    • Launch Date: February 24, 2019
    • Objective: To provide income support to all landholding farmers’ families to supplement their financial needs for procuring various inputs related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.
    • Target Beneficiaries: Small and marginal farmers
    • Financial Assistance: ₹6,000 per year per family
    • Installments: Paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each
    • Payment Mode: Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries
  • Implementation:
    • Managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
    • State governments and UT administrations are responsible for the identification of beneficiary farmer families.
eMigrate portal Why in the news?

  • The Ministry of External Affairs and the State Bank of India (SBI) have signed an MoU to offer an additional digital payment service through SBI’s payment gateway, SBIePay, for users of the eMigrate portal.

About eMigrate portal:

  • Launch Year: 2014
  • Objective: To make the emigration process online and transparent for Indian workers heading to countries where emigration checks are required.
  • Key Features:
    • Online Portal: Connects foreign employers, registered recruiting agents, and insurance companies issuing the Pravasi Bhartiya Bima Yojna.
    • Seamless Migration: Facilitates seamless, safe, and legal migration.
    • Voluntary Registration: Mechanism for voluntary registration of emigrants holding ECNR (Emigration Check Not Required) category passports for overseas employment.
    • Integration with Passport Seva Project: Validates passport details of ECR (Emigration Clearance Required) category workers, helping to detect fake passport cases and correct data entry errors at the registration stage.
  • Oversight: The Overseas Employment (OE) and Protector General of Emigrants (PGE) division of the Ministry of External Affairs is responsible for overseeing the emigration of Indian workers with ECR category passports.
Grant for Research and Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT) scheme Why in the news?

  • The Empowered Programme Committee (EPC) of the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) has recently approved 7 startup proposals under the GREAT scheme.

About GREAT scheme:

  • Objective: Encourages young innovators, scientists/technologists, and startup ventures in Technical Textiles to translate their ideas into commercial technologies/products and make India self-reliant.
  • Support:
    • Individual entrepreneurs
    • Start-ups
  • Purpose:
    • Development of functional prototypes
    • Commercialization of technologies in Technical Textiles
  • Funding:
    • Grant-in-aid of up to Rs 50 lakh
    • Funding period: Up to 18 months
Japan-India maritime exercise (Jimex 24)  Why in the news?

  • Japan-India Maritime Exercise Commences At Yokosuka.

About Jimex 24:

  • Edition: Eighth edition since its inception in 2012.
  • Phases: Includes both harbour and sea phases.
    • Harbour Phase: Comprises professional, sports, and social interactions.
    • Sea Phase: Navies of both countries will jointly hone their war fighting skills and enhance interoperability.
  • Participants:
    • Indian Navy: Indigenous Stealth Frigate INS Shivalik.
    • Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force: Guided Missile Destroyer JS Yugiri.
  • Objectives:
    • Opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices.
    • Facilitates operational interactions between India and Japan.
    • Reaffirms shared commitment towards maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.
