- Odisha has been recognized among the top seven states for its commendable efforts in rejuvenating natural water bodies such as lakes and ponds, according to a recent study by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) based in New Delhi.

- The state’s achievement is attributed to its effective implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar, launched nationwide in April 2022 with the aim of water conservation.
- Each district across India was tasked with restoring or constructing 75 ponds as part of commemorating the 75th year of Independence, collectively targeting 50,000 water bodies.
- Odisha successfully surpassed this target by restoring and building over 75 Amrit Sarovars in all of its 30 districts.
- The state’s proactive approach in water body revival was bolstered by local initiatives like the ‘Mo Pokhari’ scheme.

- Projects aim to add 102.22 MW to Odisha’s renewable energy capacity.
Odisha’s Renewable Energy Policy, 2022:
Policy envisions to establish a robust framework that can enable Odisha to undertake an inclusive journey towards energy transition through higher adoption of renewable energy (RE) in our power system.
Objectives:
The Policy aims to achieve following objectives: –
A. To accelerate adoption of clean energy alternatives and decarbonize the energy sector which includes both grid-based electricity consumption and captive

High-speed expendable aerial target (HEAT) Abhyas |

- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) recently completed a series of developmental trials for the high-speed expendable aerial target (HEAT) known as Abhyas off the coast of Odisha.
About:
- Developed by DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru, Abhyas serves as a realistic threat simulation for weapon systems training.
- This indigenous system features autonomous flight capabilities facilitated by an auto-pilot, and it operates via a laptop-based ground control system for integration, pre-flight checks, and autonomous flight management.
- It also enables data recording during flight for subsequent analysis.
