About Rhisotope Project:

- Objective: To make rhinoceros horns easier to detect at border posts and render them useless for human consumption.
- Implementation:
- Two tiny radioactive chips are inserted into the horns of 20 rhinos.
- The low-dose radioactive material is detectable by radiation sensors at international borders without harming the animals or the environment.
- Duration: The radioactive material lasts for five years, offering a cost-effective solution compared to dehorning every 18 months.
- Context: South Africa, home to the majority of the world’s rhinos, is battling a poaching crisis driven by demand from Asia for traditional medicine.

About Bhuvan Panchayat (Ver. 4.0):
- Platform Purpose: An online geospatial data and services dissemination platform supporting the integration and utilization of space-based information in governance and research initiatives, including spatial planning up to the Gram Panchayat level.
- Developed By: This WebGIS platform is developed by National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO.
About NDEM Ver. 5.0:
- Provides a comprehensive, uniform, multi-scale geospatial database for the entire country for situational assessment and effective decision-making during disasters/emergency situations.
- Acts as a national-level geo-portal offering space-based information, combined with DSS tools and services from disaster forecasting organizations, to address all natural disasters in all phases for effective Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Functions as a Disaster Recovery and Data Provider node for the Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) being established by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Mukhyamantri Bus Seva |

- With the change of government in Odisha, the affordable rural bus service under the LAccMI scheme will be renamed Mukhyamantri Bus Seva.

- The Odisha state government appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Ahuja as the new Chief Secretary of Odisha.

- Ahuja is a 1990-batch IAS officer.
- He will also serve as Secretary to the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.
- Ahuja succeeds Pradeep Kumar Jena, a 1989-batch IAS officer.
- Jena has been Chief Secretary since February 26, 2023.
- His retirement, initially set for December 31 last year, was extended by six months to June 30.

New Centre for Tribal Languages in Odisha |
Context:
- The Odisha government plans to establish a new academic centre and language laboratory under the Academy of Tribal Languages and Culture (ATLC).
- This initiative aims to document and preserve the languages of 64 tribes and 13 particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs).
- The new centre will be located in Gothapatana, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, near the proposed Adivasi Bhawan. The Adivasi Bhawan is being developed as a multipurpose centre for tribal art and culture, intended to host meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.
Academy of Tribal Languages and Culture (ATLC).
- In 1979, the Academy of Tribal Dialects and Culture (ATDC) was established by the ST and SC Development Department.
- In the 33rd meeting held in 2008-2009, the governing body reviewed the academy’s activities.
- Satisfied with its multidimensional activities, the governing body decided to change its name.
- The name was changed from Academy of Tribal Dialects and Culture (ATDC) to Academy of Tribal Languages and Culture (ATLC).
