Announced by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), the event will take place across 4,000 screens in the country.

77 cities from 44 countries joined the list recently, which includes 294 cities from all around the world.

The cities have been included in recognition of their outstanding efforts to promote lifelong learning across their communities at local level.

The UNESCO GNLC was launched in 2013 by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning. The key objective of UNESCO GNLC was to promote social cohesion, economic development and sustainability in urban areas.

Sol.  NITI Aayog has released a report titled “Preserving Progress on Nutrition in India: Poshan Abhiyan in Pandemic Times“.

As per the report, Maharashtra won the top rank among states in the implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan Scheme.

Anhdra Pradesh came second and Gujarat is at the third rank.

Sikkim was the best performer among the small states.

While Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu topped among Union Territories (UTs), Punjab and Bihar were the lowest performers among larger states in terms of the overall implementation of Poshan Abhiyaan, as per the government think tank report.

It pointed out that only 17 states and UTs had more than 75 per cent of children 12-23 months of age who were fully immunised, while 11 states and UTs had less than 25 per cent fully immunised children.

Sol.  Bharat Jodo Yatra which has been launched by the Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi will cover total 12 states.

The pad yatra begin on September 7 from Kanyakumari and will culminate in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bharat Jodo Yatra will cover a distance of 3,500 kms over the course of about 150 days.

It is the first-ever national-level foot march which will be officially launched by Rahul Gandhi with keeping an eye on the 2024 General Elections.

Chithambaram defeated R Praggnanandhaa in the ninth and final round.

Seven Indians finished in the top 10 at the tournament with R Praggnanandhaa sharing the second spot with five others.

Sol.  Renowned Carnatic musician TV Sankaranarayan has passed away. He was 77.

He was the tourchbearer for Madurai Mani lyer style of Carnatic music.

He had shared several stages with Madurai Mani Iyer.

He won the Madras Music Academy’s Sangeeta Kalanidhi Award in 2003 and was honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2003.

He was the son of musicians Tiruvalangal Vembu Iyer and Gomati Ammal.

Sol.  Indian boxer Birju Sah has passed away recently, the first Indian boxer to win medals at both the Asian and Commonwealth Games.

He was 48.

He won bronze medals at both the Commonwealth & Asian Games in 1994.

Sah’s first significant international success came at 19 in the 1993 Asian Junior Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. He took bronze in the light flyweight (45-48kg) division.

Sol.  Rajasthan is set to launch the India’s first employment guarantee scheme for the urban poor named Indira Gandhi Shehari Rojgar Guarantee Yojana.

It will start on September 9th with a budget of Rs 800 crore.

The scheme aims to provide 100 days of guaranteed employment to the urban poor, especially those who lost their jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

HDFC Bank is selected for its ‘Offline Retail Payments’, while Precision Biometric India Pvt chosen for its ‘InnaIT Key Solution for Banking’.

The opening of the ‘On Tap’ application facility for the theme ‘Retail Payments’ was announced by RBI in October 2021.

Sol.  President Draupadi Murmu has appointed Justice M Duraiswamy as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

M Duraiswamy was the senior judge of the Madras High Court.

Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari on had taken the charge as the acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court in November 2021.

Gail is the promoter of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL).

Iyer is an electrical engineer with more than 36 years of experience in the execution of projects in the areas of gas pipelines, LNG terminals, city gas distribution projects, renewables etc, amounting to Rs.40,000 crore.

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) is an Indian natural gas distribution company, incorporated on 8 May 1995. MGL is an enterprise of GAIL (India) Limited (Maharatna Company of Government of India) and the Government of Maharashtra.

Kochi Metro Phase 1 B Project of 1.20 km from SN Junction to Thripunithura Terminal is also under construction as state sector project.

Kochi is Kerala’s most densely populated city.

Popularly known as ‘Sudhakantha’, he has worked in hundreds of films in his career spanning six decades.

The doodle, featuring Hazarika playing the harmonium, was created by Mumbai-based guest artist Rutuja Mali.

Sol.  The third stealth frigate of project 17A “Taragiri”, was launched by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL),

Taragiri is a 149-meter-long and 8-meter-wide ship that is propelled by a combination of two gas turbines and two diesel engines.

The ship can move at a speed of more than 28 knots at a displacement of as much as 6,670 tonnes.

Project 17A or the Niligiri-class Frigates is a project under which a series of guided-missile frigates have been designed by the Warship Design Bureau and are being constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) for the Indian Navy.

The total cost of Project 17A, consisting of seven ships is estimated to be around Rs 25,700 Crore.

The seven stealth frigates are named: Nilgiri; Udaygiri; Taragiri; Himgiri; Dunagiri; Vindhyagiri and Mahendragiri.

Vande Bharat 2 will be equipped with more advancement and improved features like 0 to 100 Kmpl speed in just 52 seconds, maximum speed up to 180 Kmph, a less weight of 392 ton instead of 430 ton, and WI-FI content on demand.

New Vande Bharat will also have 32-inch LCD TVs which was of 24 inch in the earlier version. 15 percent more energy efficient ACs with dust-free clean air cooling of traction motor will make travel more comfortable.

In the new design, a photo-catalytic ultraviolet air purification system has also been installed.

The Railways has set a target of manufacturing 75 such trains by August 2023.

Sol. Indian railways for the first time has floated a tender to invite private players to build a high-speed wheel plant under the Make in India initiative.

Under this initiative, Railway will procure 80,000 wheels per year with a total cost of 600 crore rupees & manufacturing will take place in the country only.

The plant has to be set up within 18 months.

Indian Railways needs two lakh wheels per year. According to the plan, while the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) will provide one lakh wheels, the rest will be provided by a new ‘Make in India’

Currently, Railways imports the bulk of its wheels from countries like Ukraine & Germany.

Hindi Diwas also marks celebrating the birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha who played a crucial role in getting Hindi in the Devanagari script approved as an official language of India. He was born on 14 September 1916.

The word “Hindi” is derived from the Persian Word Hind which means “Land of Indus River”.

Hindi language is written in Devnagiri script and is a descendant of Sanskrit.

Over 50 crore people in India speak Hindi.

First journal in the Hindi language was published on the Internet in 2000.

Hindi is the fourth most spoken language of the world. The first three are Chinese, Spanish and English.

Hindi is spoken in countries like Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, UAE, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Tobago, etc.

The first Hindi poem was composed and released by Amir Khusro.

Sol. Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel has announced Gujarat’s first-ever ‘Cinematic Tourism Policy’ in the presence of dignitaries including actor Ajay Devgan, and State Government Minister Shri. Purnesh Modi and Shri Arvind Raiyani.

The policy will be effective for five years from 2022 to 2027.

Objective – To promote cinematic tourism through the development of film infrastructure and the creation of attractive opportunities for cinema in Gujarat.

At the event four MoUs were signed worth Rs 1,022 crore with various entities which included Devgan’s firm NY Cinemas LLP.

The Bank will migrate to e-BG to benefit all its customers.
