Dropping a year to prepare for JEE shows how much the aspirant is passionate about JEE examination. Many students take a drop to prepare for JEE exam the reason for dropping a year could be either not getting the desired college or the wrong strategy to crack the JEE examination. Whatever the reason for taking a drop for JEE exam the reason is the same for all the students, getting admission to the desired engineering college. National Testing Agency, which is responsible to conduct JEE exam has begun to conduct JEE Main four times a year due to the Covid surge. In this article, we have given the 6 preparation tips for JEE Main repeaters. If you are a JEE aspirant who has been preparing for a year and couldn’t crack the exam or didn’t get the desired rank then this article is for you!. Do not lose hope, learn from your mistakes and work hard on your past mistakes to get desired output. There are many ways to recover from failure.

Tip No. 1: Read from the Right Resources

The repeaters are advised to stick to the theory books which they have referred to in the previous attempts because theory books have already left the impression of images of concepts on your brain. When you were preparing for JEE Main and read every concept for the first time your brain has stored that information may be in the form of images, hence, reading the same concept from a different book can disrupt that image. So students are advised to follow the same theory books which they hare referred to earlier. Aspirants can practice MCQs from the new books, this way students will get questions from mixed subjects, and the more they practice questions the more patterns of questions students will come across. Buy those MCQ books which have chapter-wise questions, this way, all the concepts of a particular chapter will be covered.

Tip No. 2: Don’t succumb to social anxiety

You have taken this decision for dropping a year for getting into a good engineering college. Then don’t regret the decision of dropping a year and don’t be anxious because after a desired college your all the efforts, anxiety, mistakes, the pain will be worth it. Trust yourself, your preparation. Stay motivated because the end result will be great nothing will go waste your all the efforts, hard work will be worth it one day.

Tip No. 3: Divide your last months into 2 phases

The last months of preparation are very crucial if you won’t utilize your last month of preparation efficiently then it can create a blunder. The droppers have the upper hand over 12th-grade students because they have already learned the concepts before and have solved more numbers of questions than a 12th-grade student. The students can divide their last month of preparation into two phases considering their strengths and weaknesses.

Phase 1: This phase must be reserved to revise all the concepts. The students can revise concepts 20 to 25 before the exam, whatever you have studied so far trust on that and revise thoroughly because revision is a must. If you won’t revise and focus on new concepts and you won’t remember either new concepts or old concepts because our brain works on repeatation.

Phase 2: In this phase, you have to focus on solving mock tests as much as you can. Make sure the mock tests meet the requirement of JEE Mains and are similar to the JEE Mains exam pattern. Analyze mock tests and revise the concepts of questions you failed to solve. Maintain a copy and write your mistakes in that copy and revise your mistakes so you won’t make them again.

Tip No. 4: Analyze your past attempts and your results.

The students must analyze past results this way they can correct their past mistakes. The student will get to know what went wrong in previous attempts. The result of failure can be anything and it differs from student to student, so find out your reasons and work on them.

Tip No. 5: Adopt productive study habits

Students must study with full focus when they are studying because one hour of focused study is far better than the 4 hours of distracted study. The students can adopt the productive habits given below to be efficient:

  1. Study all three subjects daily.
  2. Study complex topics first.
  3. Before sleeping practice some online tests.
  4. Must follow the promodoro technique to study for long hours.
  5. Stay hydrated and eat healthy food

Tip No. 6: Solve previous year’s papers and mock tests

In JEE Main examination the questions are not repeated but the pattern of questions can be repeated. Hence, students must solve the previous year’s questions this way students will understand the need for JEE Main examination. The mock tests are a must for aspirants preparing for JEE Main because through mock tests you can assess your preparation and can find out your weak areas and can work on them.
