AICTE Declares 2025 as “Year of Artificial Intelligence”
Announcing 2025 as the ‘Year of Artificial Intelligence’, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) revealed plans to weave artificial intelligence (AI) into the core of higher education, promoting innovation, ethics, and leadership. The program will be carried out in all AICTE-recognized institutions, benefiting more than 14,000 colleges and 40 million learners.
In this context, AICE chairman TG Sitharam called on all institutions to present their AI implementation plans by December 31, 2024. The AICTE approval bureau will examine the submissions, and the leading plan of action will serve as a reference point for other institutions.
AICTE Intends to Make India AI Power
Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, professed his keenness for the ambition, stating, “As we dedicate 2025 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence, let us unite to build a future-ready workforce. Together, we can shape India as a global leader in AI innovation, ethics, and education, fulfilling our shared vision of self- reliance and prosperity.”
The technical education council urged establishments to embrace the commitment: “We pledge to position India as a Vishwa Guru in AI, leading innovation, ethics, and education, fulfilling our Prime Minister’s vision.”

Action Call for Institutions for AI Adoption
By December 31, 2024, AICTE has urged all universities to submit their AI Implementation Plans. The AICTE Approval Bureau will review these plans, and the top entries will be marked as models for others nationwide.
In addition to improving the educational system, AICTE hopes that this project will establish India as a leader in the global AI race, thereby equipping the nation for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
