Rishi Valley School in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh
Rishi Valley School is an Indian boarding school created by philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. It is situated in a sheltered valley in the interior of rural Andhra Pradesh, some 15 kilometers from the nearest town, Madanapalle, and 140 kilometers northeast of Bangalore.
Krishnamurti chose the school’s site because of its exceptional aura of peace and serenity. It is an undulating landscape of farmland, rain-fed streams, and dispersed settlements, encircled by ancient granite hills with spectacular rock formations.
The school admits students in the fourth through twelfth grades (ages nine to eighteen) and follows the ICSE board for the ninth and tenth grades and the ISC for the eleventh and 12th grades. Twenty boarding houses accommodate students over the 360-acre property, with twenty students in each house. The school is organized into two sections: junior (grades 4–8) and senior (grades 9–12).
Lawrence School of Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh
The Lawrence School in Sanawar is Himachal Pradesh’s oldest boarding school, and it is located in the Kasauli Hills of District Solan. Sir Henry Lawrence and his wife Honoria founded the school in 1847, and it is one of the oldest surviving boarding schools.
The school is also known as “Sanawar” because it is located in Sanawar. It is located at a height of 1,750 meters and spreads over an area of 139 acres, thickly forested with pine, deodar, and other conifer species. Sanawar is connected with India’s Central Board of Secondary Education. Sanawar admits children between the ages of nine and 10 every February. Class Five (Lower III) is the optimum entry point.
