Chhattisgarh Capital City: Raipur New Name

Atal Nagar is new name of raipur. The earliest archaeological evidence from old settlements and fort ruins suggests Raipur has been since the 9th century, and there is also adequate literary evidence to identify Raipur’s history since the Maurya Empire. Raipur was then the capital of the Haihaya Kings for a long period, before being ruled by the Satawahana Kings till the 2nd-3rd century CE, and then by the Nala Kings in the 5th and 6th centuries. Somavanshi rulers eventually took control of the region. For a long time, the Kalchuri Kings of Tumman ruled over this region, and King Ramachandra of this dynasty founded Raipur and made it the capital of his empire. Another legend about Raipur claims that the city was founded by King Ramachandra’s son, whose capital was Khalwatika, but the newly built city was named Raipur after Brahmdeo Rai. The territory was taken over by the British government after Raghuji the III died, and Chhattisgarh was declared a distinct Commission. Its headquarters were established in Raipur in 1854, and the Raipur district was included in the Central Provinces and Berar following independence. On November 1, 1956, the Raipur district was annexed by Madhya Pradesh. On November 1, 2000, it was annexed by Chhattisgarh, with Raipur serving as the new state’s capital.
