Capital of Karnataka- The city’s history dates back to 890 CE, in which an inscription was found on the stone at Nageshwara Temple. It mentioned the ‘battle of Bengaluru’. In 1537, Kempe Gowda, a federal ruler constructed a mud fort. This fort was believed to be the foundation of the modern-day, capital of Karnataka, Bengaluru.

After the defeat in the war, the Mughals took control and sold Bangalore to the empire of Mysore. This deal was finalized for three lakh rupees. The ruler of Mysore was Hiader Ali at that time.

Soon after that, the Anglo-Mysore war took place and the city shifted over in the hands of the British East India Company. The British then again shifted the city in the hand of the Mysore Empire. The city was reconstructed and was declared to be the princely capital of Mysore.

In 1956, Karnataka was formed with Bangalore and the cantonment set up by the British, outside the city of Bangalore. Both of these together came under the state of Karnataka. In 2006, it was officially declared by the government that the city regains its original Kannada name that is, Bengaluru.

It is also known as the “Silicon Valley of India”. It has gained recent popularity due to the Indian IT Sector. Many MNC’s have their headquarters in India set up in Bangalore. This makes thousands of fresher’s join the offices and migrate to the city from all over India.
