CBSE Issues Notice on Implementation of APAAR ID
By releasing a formal notification on the official website: cbse.gov.in, the CBSE directs all schools under its authority, to use APAAR ID as the primary source for identification of the student. This approach will enhance the organization and management of student information, leading to more efficient school administration.
Both students and schools will have quick access to important details, streamlining the process and removing the administrative complexities. This implementation aims to improve the handling of student data and create a more streamlined experience for everyone involved.
Overview of APAAR ID
The APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit code introduced as part of the ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE). It securely maintains a student’s academic information, such as grades, credits, and scholarships, for their entire life. The system is designed with limited access and requires parental consent to ensure data security.
Over 300 million students have already received this ID, which includes advanced features like facial recognition to minimize mistakes and streamline processes like exam attendance. This groundbreaking development is in line with the NEP 2020, revolutionizing the management of academic records for students.

According to the official announcement, the implementation of the APAAR ID in schools will involve six steps. The six step implementation process has been explained in detail hereunder.
Step 1: Organize PTMs – Schools are required to hold Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to introduce the APAAR ID, during which they will explain its importance and advantages to both parents and students.
Step 2: Distribution and Collection of Consent Forms – Schools need to provide physical consent forms to parents, who must sign them to authorize the use of Aadhaar information for creating APAAR IDs.
Step 3: Verification of Student Data – School officials will check the accuracy of student information, such as name, date of birth, and Aadhaar number, on the UDISE+ portal.
Step 4: Generation of APAAR IDs – Schools will create APAAR IDs through the UDISE+ portal, which will be securely connected to the students’ Digilocker accounts. After this process, a confirmation SMS will be sent to the parents.
