CBSE Releases New Notice on Exam Ethics for Class 10, 12

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced ethical guidelines to follow in the exam hall and published an official notice emphasising the necessity of upholding examination ethics for the Class 10 and 12 board exams. The CBSE Board Exam Date is announced are set to commence on February 15, 2025. The new notification is issued for school administrators and heads, and sets specific duties for schools, parents, and students to ensure that exams are administered properly and without disturbance.

CBSE Board School’s Role in Mantaining Exam Hall Ethics

All schools must explain the “Unfair Means Rules” in detail, as well as the repercussions of infractions.
CBSE has also directed that examination officials be adequately schooled in their roles to guarantee compliance with the board’s norms and a seamless examination procedure.
School authorities must advise students on the day of the exam to avoid bringing prohibited materials to the testing locations.

CBSE Board Exam 2025 Ethical Instructions

As part of its efforts to combat malpractice, the CBSE Board has added a clause to the “Act of Unfair Means guidelines”. This new category explicitly addresses the possession or use of technological devices, including the act of disseminating rumours. Students convicted of such crimes will face harsh punishments.

Penalties for Unfair Means

The sanctions include –

All of their exams for the current year have been cancelled.
Disqualification from taking the next year’s tests.

What to carry in the CBSE Board Exam Centers?

To avoid confusion, CBSE has explicitly defined the objects that students are permitted and banned from bringing to examination centres.

Permitted Items

Admit cards, school IDs, translucent stationery pouches, geometry boxes, and analogue clocks are all permitted.

Prohibited Items

Communication devices such as mobile phones and smartwatches are prohibited, as are any textual materials, electronic gadgets, wallets, handbags, and food items (save for diabetic pupils). The board has said that possession of prohibited materials will be viewed as a “Unfair Means” offence and will result in severe penalties.
