The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced ethical guidelines to follow in the exam hall and published an official notice emphasising the necessity of upholding examination ethics for the Class 10 and 12 board exams. The new notification is issued for school administrators and heads, and sets specific duties for schools, parents, and students to ensure that exams are administered properly and without disturbance.

What Does CBSE Exam Ethics 2025 Notice Include?
- Reading the rules and consequences for unfair practices (UFM) to students.
- Informing both students and their parents about exam integrity and the associated penalties.
- Advising students to avoid believing or sharing rumors that could interfere with the orderly administration of the exams.
- Reminding students to refrain from bringing any prohibited items to the examination venue.
- Giving detailed instructions to all examination officials.
CBSE Board School’s Role in Maintaining Exam Hall Ethics
- All schools must explain the “Unfair Means Rules” in detail, as well as the repercussions of infractions.

CBSE Board Exam 2025 Ethical Instructions
As part of its efforts to combat malpractice, the CBSE Board has added a clause to the “Act of Unfair Means guidelines”. Penalties for Unfair Means

- All of their exams for the current year have been cancelled.

What to carry in the CBSE Board Exam Centers?
To avoid confusion, CBSE has explicitly defined the objects that students are permitted and banned from bringing to examination centers.
Permitted Items
- Admit cards, school IDs,
- translucent stationery pouches,
- geometry boxes, and
- analog clocks are all permitted.
Prohibited Items
Communication devices such as mobile phones and smartwatches are prohibited, as are any textual materials, electronic gadgets, wallets, handbags, and food items (save for diabetic pupils). The board has said that possession of prohibited materials will be viewed as an “Unfair Means” offense and will result in severe penalties.
- Stationery items include written or printed textual material, bits of paper, calculators (except for students with learning disabilities such as dyscalculia, as per Circular No. CBSE/COORD/2020 dated 20.01.2020; these are provided by the exam center),
- pen drives,
- log tables (provided by exam centers),
- electronic pens/scanners, and so on.
- Other goods include wallets, goggles, handbags, and pouches.
- Communication devices include mobile phones, smartwatches, cameras, Bluetooth devices, earbuds, microphones, pagers, health bands, and so on.
- Eatable foods can be opened or packed, except for diabetic pupils.
If students carry any other object that could be utilized for unfair purposes will be treated as unfair means.
