Let us take a look at all the events that unfolded before that has led to the CLAT 2025 counselling postponement.
Petition in Delhi High Court Against Answer Key
A candidate submitted a writ petition contesting the final answer key and requested a revision of his result in Delhi High Court. The petitioner, 17-year-old Aditya Singh, who took the CLAT 2025 UG exam, also sought corrections to other disputed questions. He argued that the mistakes in the answer key caused him to lose marks, which impacted his chances of getting admitted to prestigious institutions.
Delhi HC Finds Errors in CLAT UG 2025 Question Paper & Answer Key
While going through the official answer key, the Delhi High Court identified two errors in Set A of the CLAT UG question paper. The questions with error were question numbers 14 and 100. The Hon’ble High Court Observed, “The errors in question Nos 14 and 100 are demonstrably clear and shutting a blind eye to the same would be an injustice to the petitioner albeit this Court is conscious of the fact that it may impact the result of other candidates.”
In response to the writ petition, the Delhi High Court ordered the Consortium to amend the merit list that was released on December 7 on its official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. On December 20, a single-judge bench determined that the answers to two questions in the entrance exam were incorrect and instructed the Consortium to revise the merit list accordingly. Consequently, the division bench of the Delhi High Court chose not to reverse the decision made by the single bench.
Viewpoint of the NLU Consortium
After the CNLUs filed an appeal with the division bench of the Delhi High Court, the bench opted not to alter the order of the single-judge bench. As a result, the Consortium plans to approach the Supreme Court promptly for suitable relief against the ruling, as stated. The Consortium wants to continue the CLAT 2025 counselling using its original result and merit list. The Consortium of NLUs will resume the counselling process after the judgement or an order is passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
