CLAT Cut Off Last year Marks Trends
The CLAT 2024 exam paper saw a change in the total number of marks and questions. Due to this, there is a sense of ambiguity among students about the CLAT 2024 Cut off marks. The CLAT 2024 question paper has 120 marks, as opposed to the previous 150. This year’s CLAT cutoff marks will significantly alter as a result of the updated CLAT pattern. In terms of rank, the cut off might not alter significantly. This is due to the lack of expectation that a candidate’s preferences for NLUs will alter. Some of the trends that are anticipated for the CLAT 2024 cut off are listed below.
- The CLAT cut off for elite NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, and WBNUJS Kolkata used to be approximately 66%, or a score of 100–110 out of 150. It would be challenging to score more than 100 out of 120 on the CLAT in 2024. Consequently, the overall cut-off marks for these top NLUs will decrease from earlier due to the decrease in overall marks.
- In the new pattern, a percentage score of 66% corresponds to a score of approximately 80–85 marks out of 120, which is probably the cutoff for the top NLUs this year.
- The cutoffs for Tier-2 and Tier-3 NLUs would be lower than those of top NLUs. Still, there isn’t much of a difference between NLUs. Following round one of CLAT 2023, NLSIU Bengaluru’s general category closing rank was 107. The corresponding number for GNLU Gandhinagar was 419.
- Students who received about 70 out of 150 marks, or 46-48%, in their prior exams were offered admission to significantly lower-ranked and recently opened NLUs like DBRANLU Sonipat. Thus, admission to some NLUs would still be possible with a 50% CLAT 2024 score. The general category final rank at DBRANLU Sonipat last year was 1902.
What is the Good Score for CLAT 2025
Students may be asking what constitutes a good CLAT score given the recent modifications to the exam structure for CLAT 2025. Since it is evident that the overall score has decreased, CLAT Exam’s good score will likewise decline. Considering the above-discussed CLAT 2025 cut off trends, candidates should aim for a score of 78–85. Candidates should be aware, nevertheless, that a change in the exam pattern will not impact the CLAT cut off rank.
Factors Affecting CLAT Cut Off Marks
There are several factors that affect the cut-off marks of CLAT 2025. It is to be noted that the above-mentioned cut-off marks can vary from the actual cut-off marks based on the factors mentioned below. The CLAT cut off is subject to alter annually due to a multitude of variables. The following significant variables will impact the CLAT 2025 cut off:
Candidates’ NLU preferences: Seats will be distributed based on the candidates’ NLU preferences. Even if they meet the cutoff for a particular NLU, those who have not indicated their choice for admission will not be taken into account for that NLU’s admission list.
Candidates’ marks and ranks: Admission is granted to candidates based on a combination of merit and preference. Higher ranking applicants have previously chosen prestigious NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad. As a result, a candidate’s prospects of being admitted to prestigious NLUs will be determined by the marks and rank they receive.
Number of Seats provided by NLUs: The NLUs provide roughly 1300 seats for LLM and more than 4,000 seats for 5-year LLB programs. The number of seats present in different NLUs highly affects the cut-off marks.
NLU Reservation Policy: The majority of NLUs reserve about 25% of their seats for candidates who fall under the domicile category. On the other hand, up to 50% of the overall inflow may be reserved for residence by some NLUs. The remaining seats are allocated based on reservations made each category. This will affect each category’s CLAT cutoff marks 2025
