DGP Full Form: DGP stands for the Director-General of Police.
In India, the highest-ranking police officer is the Director-General of Police. The state or UT police force is led by the Director-General of Police. The State Police Chief is sometimes known as the Director-General of Police. Individuals assigned to the post of DGP are chosen from the Indian Police Service by the Cabinet. The Director-General of Police is a three-star officer, and the rank of DGP may be held by other officers in the state.
