Health Ministers of India
The list of health ministers of India from Independence(1947) to 2022 is important knowledge that needs to be remembered. When India got its independence from the colonial rule of Britain on 15 August 1947, it was very necessary to have ministers appointed in every domain of the country’s administration. Health Ministry was one such important ministry. Rajkumari Amrit Kaur and D. P. Karmakar were the first and second Health Ministers of Independent India, who served their term in the Prime Ministership of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
Current Health Minister of India 2022-23
As part of the most current cabinet upheaval, Mansukh Mandaviya is the India’s Union Health Minister. Currently, Mandaviya is also in charge of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. He took over from Dr. Harshvardhan, who spent the previous two years working for the Health Ministry. The Department of Health, Department of Family Welfare, and Department of Health Research are the three departments that make up the Ministry of Health. Before it was removed in 2014, this also included the Department of AYUSH. Then, it became the Ministry of AYUSH.

An Indian government ministry in charge of health policy is the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Additionally, it oversees all Indian government programmes for family planning.
Department of Health
The Department of Health works with health care, including public health, preventive medicine, immunisation campaigns, and awareness initiatives.
Department of Family Welfare
In particular, the Department of Family Welfare (FW) is in charge of reproductive health, maternal health, paediatrics, information, education, and communications; collaboration with NGOs and global aid organisations; and rural health services.
Department of Health Research
The Department of Health Research (DHR) was established in 2007 and started operating in August of that same year. The Grant-In-Aid Scheme of DHR includes studies on disease burden estimation, inexpensive innovative health technology process/product development, translational research, and child health care.
